JPN Wii pre-orders Thread

My Japanese Wii has just arrived from play-asia. It seems that they threw in a free Nintendo 512MB SD card with my order. Anyone else got this freebie?

I'm very happy that the component cable arrived as well. The edges of fonts on the Wii menu seem a bit sharper and the textures in Zelda seem to have a bit more detail.

I got a prepaid points card, just trying to figure out how to use it to order some VC games...

I had another try today and it turned out to be one of the most frustrating days ever! I passed by Yurakucho Bic on my way to work and lo and behold spied a line so I knew it was for Wii. To my disappointment, once again they blocked the end of the line claiming that they were sold out.

Once the dust had settled I asked a member of staff if they would be doing the same thing every day to which he rudely replied " I have no idea".He then just carried on with his job as though I was Mr Invisible. It was obvious from his tone that he really couldn't care less.

Less than three hours later, whilst out for dinner,I noticed another blocked off line of, you guessed it, happy punters snapping up Wiis. The same twat faced areshole that I encountered before was at the counter doing what he does worst. I swear that if guns were legal in Japan I would starting a life stretch tonight for the murder of said Bic employee. My only defence would be that he told me had no idea yet was selling them again within three hours thus clearly lied to me and therefore deserved to die!

I know I should have pre ordered and as such getting one is challenge, but his utter contempt for me as a customer combined with his barefaced lie really made a ****ty day even ****tier.

Ahh, I feel better now!

To you chaps who have a Jpn Wii - how easy is the set up? Getting online & the like? I appreciate it's all in Japanese, but does anyone have any kind of guide (if it's tricky that is?)

I have been having a wii look around shops here but totally gold dust at the moment, and yes I asked some staff but they really didn't have a clue as to when they'd be getting anyway.

I wasn't too bothered about not getting a Wii, but looks like I definitely won't be getting one this year

I managed to pick one up last Thu. I just went when Bic opened and stood around for a bit until they started flogging them. They claimed that they were not sure if they would be getting any in but I know they were selling them everday last week so my persistence paid off. They are like gold dust. The DS Lite snowball effect is taking hold.

It's the Chinese scalpers that piss me off. The queue was full of them .

There was an item on the news the other day about Chinese buying them up to resell overseas.. they had video from the PS3 launch showing people going straight from the store and loading their newly bought hardware into the back of a mini-van parked across the road - it wasn't even subtle!

I haven't tried so hard to pick up a Wii yet but I have a couple of weeks off soon so will start checking my local Yamada Denki. A friend of mine bought a PS3 there last week "because they had them" .. didn't actually buy any PS3 software though!

Yeah I saw the news story too. They went to someones stinking rich house in Hong Kong and this smug looking twit was playing on a PS3. Ahhgg, and that reminds me, at the end of that story they showed an old woman buying a PS3 for her spoilt little ****ty grandkids. When she brought it home my god the cocky little cheeky look on that kids spoilt face deserved a slap. lol.... I am going overboared?

Thankfully Bic will only sell one unit per customer so they either have to go back again and again or arrange a chain gang of homeless dosers to queue for them. The latter is probably their preferred option.

Nope, you're right it was disgusting! The funniest thing was when they went to some Japanese guys home and asked him why he bought the PS3 - his answer was because it was 'full hi-vision'.. at which point the camera pans across to his 15 inch TV!! The standard of news is rubbish but it is great for entertainment value sometimes.
