In my opinion, if you're enjoying them, then you should pay for them!

Indeed. Show some respect for the people who make the games. If not, don't moan when you want a sequal to come out (like we need any more )

        Heres what the release said:

        Anticipated Questions:
Q1: How do I get the files onto the harddisk?
A1: There are several ways. You could f.e. install the files with the\ Mechassault or 007 hacks. This requires one of the games and the files on a memorycard. The other way is to open the box and do the harddisk swap trick which is described all over the net.
Right unmodded xbox... so you need the files on a Memory card... now how are you going to get said files on the memory card without special hardware or a modded xbox... You also have to buy Mech Assault or 007, about the cost of a mod chip....

Secondly swap trick, this involves opening up the xbox and mucking around with the HDD, hmm seems easier just to mod the xbox to me.

this all relates to saurian's thread, basically this is just a means for cheapskate 'professional' modders to mod a machine for as cheap as possible. there are quite a few people i know who used to use modchips but to save money have started using various versions of the no mod tricks (including TSOP flashing, which i would NEVER EVER recommend to anyone as a long term modding solution) all in an effort to save themselves a fiver.

The HDD is right on the bottom of the console. You can just slip it in and out really easily!

              No it's not.
It's on the top right, just next to the DVD rom drive.
Although it is really quite easy to remove once opened.
              Modding is better IMO.
The new chips allow any changes to be switched off with ease.

Yeah, next to the DVD-ROM drive...

...It's easy to see it when you open the console...

..I thought on the bottom... Ah well. I need to open up my console again!

The reason for the big fuss over this is because in America, as far as I know, shops are very reluctant to sell or install mod chips. Because of this, any mod chips have to be bought by mail order and installed by the user. Using the hard drive swap, you can mod a console with minimal soldering, and no aditional hardware. Alternatively, a USB memory card and 007 / Mechassault would still be easier to get ahold of and easier to use for most people there compared with a mod chip.

                  Later.

Yup - and it'll be just as easy to hack the hell out of the new one.
I really dont rate the Xbox at all as a console but once modded with apps it's as vital as your TV.

What you wrote about above is not the whole story - there are even easier methods in the works (I've seen the prototype mod unit and it's hysterical how easy it is! )
Hey Saurian, you don`t rate the XB, hhmmm??? I can understand you not liking its list of games but as a console surely you recognise its power and potential?

Power and potential are pointless unless they are used properly or towards a way that interests the user.

Did you buy a games console to appreciate its power or to play software?

Thats right - I'm not feeling the game lineup at all. But the Xbox has other uses which make it absolutely vital!!

Problem with my machine is that regardless of what is being performed the video quality is very poor. The only time I have good video output is when running the Kawaks emulator - even Panzer Dragoon is grubby looking on my machine

Like Kron said - power means absolutely nothing. The type of games I love are totally absent on the Xbox unless you run them emulated, while the PS2 is giving me PSyvariar and VF4e action, Gamecube was pure class right from the start and is now giving me F-Zero, Star Soldier and the Heroness of Joe! (+ nice little games like Lode Runner and Mr Driller going for so cheap)

F Zero GX and Viewtiful Joe totally outclass anything I've seen on the Xbox by a mile anyway, graphical power is meaningless next to vision and artistic quality.
