Jpn GC games on US Wii - memory card question?

Have any of you chaps with your US Wii's tried any Jpn GC games out yet, via freeloader or action replay? Just wanted to know if there were any issues plugging a memory card with Jpn saves on it into a US Wii?

If you play Japanese games on a US GC via the Freeloader/AR it does something to the Japanese saves that lets them sit happily on a US-formatted memory card, so it ought to be the same, right?

I've got a clean memory card here - If I just go and format that in Freeloader, I'll have a 'universal' card, right?
