Just got back from Tesco Gallows Corner.

They had 21 units and all the sweaty fanboys* were there so I gave up.

I went the NTSC route mate, no queueing for me. ;p

Gah no Wii for me. After waiting an age for my VG++ order i deecided to pick up a PAL unit to tide me over. Peeled myself out of bed and headed down to Toy's R Us for 7.45 only to be told that some lady in fron had just snagged the last one. GUTTED! All the other high street places none but i still had to drag myself to each one.

The icing on the cake was the guy in Game (Debenhams long shot but open at 8am) who kindly pointed out "thats why people pre-order with game" what a tosser

Oh well there's still hope of my U.S machine. Back to Gears and R6 for me

My Experience

So, here's a brief summary of my evening.

Kept calling throughout the day between Asda at Patchway Bristol & Asda at Longwell Green Bristol. Longwell Green had 25, Patchway had 15. When I called up and Longwell Green had 13 people waiting - I hit the road. Making several wrong turnings in my excitement. Traffic has also never been so frustrating.

I got there at around 18:00, I was number 17 in the queue. No tickets were being handed out for the release. The reasoning apparently was upper management said that if it got to 12 they didn't want to wait for anybody to come back with their tickets. SO... no tickets were being handed out, and you basically had to stay in the queue.

I was surrounded by brilliant people, had many laughs, and 6585 smutty & crude Wii jokes later, I got my Wii, with Red Steel, Zelda, Super Monkey Ball and of course Wii Sports.

Sadly they ran out of Nunchucks & Wii Plays before I could get to the front of the queue. They had no component cables either .

All in all I'm feeling it was a success. It's the longest I've ever had to wait for a console, but the experience was worth it.

Figure I would chip in on the morning trek in Cant's, Im still waiting for my Wii from Amazon (should be here in a few hours), but my m8 wanted to try and pick one up this morning without a pre-order. Game was open at 7AM, well actually 6AM as they felt sorry for the poor bastards in the freezing cold, they sold out and the queue was fairly large. I went in and picked up Zelda and joked about them having componant cables, they dont. It was nice to see a combination of die hard gamers and familes there with their Wii's in the icy cold weather tbh, different to the other release's.

Went to Woolworths when they opened and Virgin, Woolworths had none in stock (not going to get any for a week) - Virgin had a midnight sale but all pre-orders were snapped up months ago. What took the piss was my m8 had actually pre-ordered from HMV, paid the deposit but was told - No Wii in stock. No place had componant cables. I

I made the trip to our local Woolworths this morning just in case they had one in stock, but no luck. Gonna try and nip to PC World during lunch and see if I can find one there!

Just a heads up, Gamestation tried to charge me ?19.99 for a points card

I walked around the corner and Woolies have them for ?13.99, result
So it's worth trying there if you want one slightly cheaper than RRP, every little helps when you're as skint as me

They also had a couple of copies of Wii Play and a Classic controller besides the games.

Phoning a few stores now to try and get 2x remotes and a classic controller for my US system.
My local Woolies has nunchucks and a few copies of Wii Play + Remote, but at ?39.99 they can piss off, especially since I can't use the game itself.
Local WHSmiths have nothing, they said only the big WHSmith in the center of Bristol has any accessories.
My local indie ain't picking up the phone!

I had a look in the local PC World at lunch. No luck, but they did have quite an amusing sign in the window

I've got my father currently scouting around the Frinton/Walton/Clacton/Colchester area for anyone with stock. Not looking good so far, Bennetts had one but we missed the last sale by half an hour!
