    Loner gaming on Wii

Are there many decent single player games being developed for Wii? You have Zelda (personally, I don't like the cartoony anime style, so sue me), and Metroid Prime 3 on the way (great but will it innovate on the other two at all except re: the controls). Then there is Resident Evil in the far far distance somewhere.
    What else?

Perhaps its a console where you just gotta have friends?

Edit: I forgot about No More Heroes. That's a big plus

Well I know you said don't like cartoony games but Mario is out in January, so is Trauma centre. Rayman is single player, but cartoony...

This console really is a multi-player paradise unfortunately for you!

Check a website like play.com for forthcoming releases, there are two pages of Wii games that I know nothing about.

Single Player Call of Duty 3 for one, and definately get Trauma Center when it eventually hits the UK.

If you don't like cartoony style you really picked the wrong console. It's Nintendo, what do you expect? Twilight Princess is as serious looking as Nintendo stuff ever gets. I hope you're not actually not playing zelda beacause of the art style..? If so, you're missing a great, great game.

Biohazard Chronicles is coming at some point, and there's a survival type game (the name of which eludes me, but I think it's by Hudson) coming too. Project HAMMER too I guess, but that is also pretty stylised, and Disaster Day of Crisis of which we haven't seen much.

Trauma Center is full of anime characters, and it's visuals are really stylised. It's a good game though, but I think I prefer the DS version due to the superior controls.

Well as you say, gonna be hard pushed to find anything that's not stylised on the Wii, because it's really what the Wii does best. Realistic graphics would be it's downfall in the same way it was for the GameCube.

I don't think it's necessarily going to be a console where you 'gotta have friends', I think there's a huge amount of potential for application of the controls in single player titles, Resi being one example, and the thought of what Nintendo could do with a new Zelda game developed frrom the ground up on the Wii is staggering... but any smart developer is going to be creating games with the Wii's strengths in mind, and we have to look to the GameCube to see what those strengths are.

Nintendo have 3 new IP that seem to be more 'adult' centric.

                Project Hammer

                Disaster: Day of Crisis

                Forever Blue

                ----------------------------------------------------------

                Battalion Wars 2

                Dragon Quest Wii

                Final Fanasy Crystal Chronicles

Hope that helps, new game info is pretty sparse, lot's of dev co's are rumoured to have games, but no one has come out and shown anything yet apart from EA over the past two weeks have said they're creating SSX Blur and The Sims Wii both exclusive I think also.

Oh and Red Steel 2 is being worked on also!

When it comes to single-player experiences, I like games like F-Zero, Pilotwings.

I hope Nintendo have new versions of these next year.

There are 2 other survival horror games in the pipeline besides Res Evil...

                        Sadness
                        Necro Nesia

Both of which I'm REALLY looking forward to.

Apart from whats been mentioned I cant really think of much else off the top of my head.

Pilotwings must be in development, I'm sure of it. I think it's very unlikely we'll see an F-Zero game on the Wii though, but I could be wrong.

Cheers guys this is exactly the feedback I wanted... the info on new stuff seemed a bit scarce but you have really clued me in on a few good ones.

Oh I don't have a Wii btw (just the G^3) - but I will get Wii eventually if only to save space I have the PC for really beardy games (FPS/RTS) and not enough time to play every great game out there so I'm not bothered about the powerhouses, well apart from Team ICO grrrr.

But heh I forgot about PilotWings, that is a big one and a game which should cover one and two player really well. And I'll eat my hat if we don't get it. Sadly on the survival horror front Necro nesia looks a bit worrying, we know nothing about Sadness AFAIK, and I have every confidence in Resi to deliver, but I aint holding my breath!
God knows what Disaster and Forever Blue are about, but they look intruiging!

I will definitely buy a Wii in good time (now is NOT a good time, I need my priorities straight for a few months which is another story), but I want a balance of single and multiplayer stuff. I do like the look of Trauma Center funnily enough.... and as I say No More Heroes too, there's just something about Zelda that doesn't gel for me - maybe it's the pointy ears

Nintendo have always delivered an F-Zero with each generation, but seeing they have changed focus, we may not see a new game in the series.

I can still hope for one though!
