These 360 D3 Publisher games better be region free ; Oneechanbara & EDF3

    Oneechanbara vorteX
Oneechanbara vorteX for Xbox360Oneechanbara Vortex is the 3rd game in the series, the previous titles being released on the PS2, this is its debut on another console. The story is a simple one, a zombie outbreak occurs leaving our heroines to hack and slash their way through level after level of zombie hordes, collecting orbs from the dead bodies which can be used later to buy power-ups for your character. Gameplay is very simple, and is often likened to Dead or Alive meets Resident Evil. The game is good button-mashing ultra-violent stress relief. The 2 previous titles in the series were never ...

C'mon D3, you have the chance to get lots of extra sales of these games if you make them region free. I'll personally buy a copy of both, that's at least two, surely that's gotta make it worth it

I have this horrible feeling that they aren't going to be though, and that after the failure of the PAL Oneechanbara PS2 port (wtf do you expect if you call it Zombie Zone with that ****ty front cover), that I'll never get to play these games.

If anyone does get these can someone please confirm ASAP if they are region free. I'm patiently (hahaha) refreshing the play-asia pages every day to see if they've updated with the ?'s changed to a tick, but I'm not holding my breath. It was bad enough with Senko no Ronde Rev.X and Bullet Witch not being region free (although I read that the latter will get a PAL/US-NTSC release), but if these games aren't region free on release I imagine I'll never get a chance to play them sans mod, which I'm afraid to do given the 360 is already so wonky.

D3 are aiming for a US release of EDF3 in March. D3's US arm doesn't have approval to publish Oneechanbara yet though.

              They won't be region-free.

I don't think one Japanese native game has yet, has it?

Sadly I think you're right - shame though, as it would've helped the old sales figures if they were.

There are some new movies of oneechanbara on IGN today. Looks like a pretty awful game (mindless button masher), but the sheer comedy value of the excess of it all would be amusing for a while.

Generally speaking if a Japanese game is good it will make it to the West eventually. Not always, but mostly. Even rubbish like Bullet Witch made the journey.

Most of the PS2 D3 games have been released in Europe, so I hope that it'll be the same with those two titles.
EDF3 is the only reason that I'm considering to buy a 360. I loved the first two games of the series and this new one looks like an unimaginable amount of hilarious antblasting fun.

D3 is a bigtime budget publisher so the games are crap looking for a reason, they are cheap.
I think both of those titles were in the Simple 2000 collection or something like that 2000yen to buy on PS2 (less than a tenner).

I don't think these little japanese publishers are too with it to be honest, you'd of thought that all the japanese XBOX 1 games would of been region free, but they never were.

I can't help but agree with this thought. I get the impression that in a lot of cases they don't make them region free in the hope that they'll be able to release them in english speaking countries and make even further sales, then when 90% of them don't get that far, the plan backfires because no one outside of Japan can purchase them.

Metal Wolf Chaos, I'm looking at you.

Also, for definitive proof of Japanese publishers insanity, just look at the latest Culdcept game. Gee I'll bet sales of that game in Japan will go through the roof with it's release on the ever-popular-in-Japan Xbox 360. /sigh

D3 have an European subsidiary in the rather imaginatively titled D3 Publisher of Europe. However, they are concentratong on publishing licensed games (games based on Flushed Away have just been released), with few plans to release their budget games - leaving these to be published by the likes of 505 Gamestreet. If the games are any good they should get a release eventually.

one down one to go. although if EDF3 isn't region free there is no reason to suggest vorteX won't be locked as well.
