US vs UK Compatibility

I am looking into getting a Wavebird for my Wii/GC, and the US have a really nice platinum one compared to the boring grey one here in the UK

Will the US one work on a UK Wii/GC and vice versa? in case I get a US Wii and and UK Wavebird?

So really are the accessories hot swappable with stuff from across the pond, and Japan etc?

I cant see why not, im sure i used a us wavebird on a pal cube a few years ago.

The Play.com message is just the one they use for the games. It's not true, Wavebirds are completely universal, as are all other Nintendo controllers (including the Wii, apparently).
