Japanese Wii from Yes Asia - Delivery time?

I've been thinking of getting myself a Japanese Wii from Yes Asia. I've never ordered from them before but I understand that they don't charge for shipping and you don't get charged import duty either.

Well I just checked their site and they say that all Nintendo Wii orders will be upgraded to free international express shipping, which is handy Just wondering if anybody has ordered one from them using express shipping, how long did it take to reach you? If I ordered today would there be a slim chance of getting it before Xmas or is that not gonna happen?

Once it's been shipped, it takes two days generally, through DHL.

But you've got to jump through hoops for them first in order to get them to ship anything to you if you've not ordered from them before.

Hoops eh? What kind of hoops might these be? I'm a lazy bastard so if it's too much trouble I may give it a miss

Well, when I bought something from them for +$200, they asked for a faxed copy of my credit card (front and back), and my most recent statement. When I (as a fellow lazy bastard!) told them I couldn't be bothered, and asked if I could just pay through Paypal, they said that would be fine, and that it would go through instantly and be processed that day.

So I did that, and phoned them to make sure it was all cool, and the guy on the end of the phone said "You paid by an E-cheque, so this will take 5-7 days to clear". Having never heard of an E-cheque before, I was confused as to how I'd paid by one, and queried it with him. I then logged into my Paypal account so that I could go through everything I'd done to make the payment with him over the phone, and there was no option to pay via an E-cheque, and the payment was in fact instant.

So then he went away for a couple of minutes, came back, and said "Actually you didn't pay by an E-cheque, I was confused. But it will take a few days to process the payment".

If you're going to order from them, I'd suggest giving them a quick call first to make sure that it'll go through quickly...

My girlfriend had a nightmare trying to order a bunch of Japanese Wii games from them, they kept messing her about saying her card wasn't authorised of some rubbish and now they wont let her cancel the order even they are the ones blocking it being sent out. Crazy. She has gone with Play.Asia now and the games arrive today (allbeit with a ?30 customs charge, but hey, its her money )

Not sure if that's the sort of thing you are referring too though...

Cheers, thanks for the info, I would have been well pissed off if I'd had to go through all that rubbish after ordering! Might wait until someone has one up for sale on the trading forums or just get one from PA. I'll almost certainly be hit for customs but at least I've never been messed about by them.

What hoops? I ordered one from them, never used them before, and I've got to say they were fantastic, I ordered a US wii first but couldn't be bothered in the end for them to come back in stock so emailed them on the 12/12/2006 asking if I could change to a JAP one, got a reply in under an hour that the difference would be refunded and my JAP wii was shipped the same day, I received it on the 14th.

Wish I'd had that! I actually had ordered from them before, but only the odd game (and I've got to say that I ordered Zelda for the US Wii from them, which was shipped within two hours of my having ordered it, and with me in two days - excellent service), and they still went through all that fuss with the payment. Maybe it's just down to who processes your order or something.

I suppose that like most places, people will have had both good and bad experiences with them. With a big purchase though, I prefer not to take the risks, pay a bit extra and go with a shop I trust and have got used to.
