No probs, I'll add you to my buddy list later and keep an eye out for you tomorrow.

The safe is pretty good... especially if your allies because the axis team (who are defending the safe) have a serious advantage thanks to the layout of the map and beating them is very satisfying.

Last night me and a mate played it though and the guys on the allied team were so **** we defended the safe and the generator using only daggers and pistols.

I just want to go back to the hypocritical point about 3d and net about PC/console.
The 3d console games were, in the main, VERY different from the 3D PC offerings. Thats the crux. Ridge, Tekken, Virtua Fighter and random 3D platformer that launched the SAT/PS had no competitors on the PC. These were different types of games - not the same games on a different format.
XB online, and PS2 (iirc) only really have PC style games online. Apart from, maybe, some fighters (but obv many play these online via emu) but thats it. Personally I am unfussed with online until there is some more variety (and jap devs ) as FPSs make me very bored very quickly.

[pedant] We had 3D games in the form of elite and stuff aaaages ago......[/pedant]

PS, what with the whole XB is easy to get online and stuff - just plug a cable in etc. Anyone think its odd that it is cheaper to get your PS2 online than the XB??

How do you figure that? Its ?50 for the broadband adaptor on the PS2 (with free Twisted Metal Black) plus another ?45 for the headset (with Socom, admittedly), against ?40 for the Xbox Live headset (with MotoGP and Whacked in cutdown form).

Unless you really regard Twisted Metal Black as worth something (and bargain bins everywhere would disagree with you), I make that cheaper.

Anyone got the complete list of the "Over 50 games this year" Microsoft were advertisin back in march? Be nice to see what we've got to look forward to particularly over this summer as I bought MM3 to be my online game an that ain't lookin like it'll hold.

Can I play against UK/PAL Gamers on XBOX Live with my US XBOX ?

I am interested in joining buddies list, but I can't hear them, but I can make noises

What kind of things do people do with microphone apart from chatting.

Most of the time... RTCW, MotoGP2 and Ghost Recon work but I'm not chancing turning on my modchip to change my Xbox to US mode to check Midtown Madness 3.

Noises are usually enough... with some games voice chat is important but for others you probably wouldn't be missing much.

its 25 for the adapter and technicley only ten pound more for the headset as most games are 40, so if you want to split hairs you could say you are paying ?35, you also get nothing but a cd and a headset in this 40 xbox deal ,so you could also say that the sony deal is better value,

you dont have to get it with tmbo, oh and you fogot mechwarrior in the xbox pack i have both, and enjoy the sony one more because of all the free games they keep sending me,

so far ive had 2 copys of socom, tmbo (played this all of twice lol it is crapola) hardware online arean and were geting ******* next, with more to come, ive also one a competition to name a game room and won a load of free stuff, i payed only 40 to get on the sony beta trial so woohoo to me

Really? I haven't seen the BB adaptor available other than in the Twisted Metal pack, so I didn't realise. Thats not so bad, then.

I forgot about Mechwarrior in the Xbox pack, as I've not tried it yet. Any good?

the mech warrior game is only one level hard to find people playing but not bad for a quick blast better than whaked or whtever its called,

i think you have probably only seen the tmbo pack because no one wants this due to over stocks, sony really should of just cut there losses and given this away free with the first so many adapters as its only a 20 quid game and quite old, all the beta trialists got this game for free and you were hard pressed to find anyone playing it, if you wanted a game it was strictley on an arange on the forum first basis

whats good for live, as i had wolfenstein (i got it free) not that impressed, anything killa comeing out anytime soon pleeaasss anything

I think you're cheekily comparing the internet prices of the Sony gear to the RRP of the MS stuff. The RRP of the Sony network adapter is ?29.99. Sure you can get it cheaper online, but then you can get the Live pack for only ?30 if you shop around.

Having said that, the cost advantage of having an ethernet adapter in the back of the XBox is pretty much non-existant.

                              Baroque,

3D gaming was always a much easier sell. The results can be seen instantly. I doubt we'll ever see anything catch the consumer's imagination the way 3D on the 32-bit consoles did. Any other revolution will always happen over time.

Obviously MS press office said Live would be the next big thing and revolutionise all our lives, but it's the job of the press office to bull****. Whether you want to believe it or not is down to the individual, but I don't think many were suckered by their claims. It's no different to Sony's claims of the emotion engine, it's just sales bull. Who cares?

Live has a great community. It matter not one jot if the community has 40,000, 400,000 or 4,000,000,000 members nor whether some people don't renew their subscription. Only MS accountants care about such sales waffle. The only thing that matters is that the community that is left provides an enjoyable game experience and the technology is reliable. My BB connection is currently buggered but I can't wait to get back on Live.

Xbox Live may not have been sold to the masses, nor does has it been as popular as MS predicted, but that doesn't make it suddenly ****. You may not enjoy it, fair enough, but I don't see the relevance of criticising it for not meeting sales expectations. It's akin to a film critic slagging a classic like The Royal Tenenbaums for not bringing in enough punters to the cinema.

When discussing the entertainment value of anything, sales results and expectations are an irrelevance.

I like the freedom Live offers gamers and its seamless integration into the Xbox games creeping up on people - there is no obligation to play online, but I can sign-in on most games letting people know I'm available and when I get that invite, I'll be playing Live in just a few menu clicks. Total no brainer... I may not play it loads, I have too many games for that and not enough of what I like on Live (MM3, yummy) but its there, so I can be picky and dip in and out whenever I like

I look forward to downloadable stuff too - the Mech Assault content is brilliant and turns a **** game into a slightly less **** one :P But seriously, if more games had greater online content, be it multiplayer or single player missions, new stuff, etc then I'm sure there would be more incentive to keep coming back and invest in a renewed subscription. Multiplayer may not be all it is cracked up to be online, giving little long term thrills beyond a handful of titles, but the content stuff is where it is at imho.

Really looking forward to some new Brute Force stuff, 'cos I it.
