Don't think that's going to happen, it's just a different story when it comes to movies, different regions and age ratings and all that malarkey.

Is it specific to the console region, or are they tracking based on IP do we know? I haven't checked (I guess I could get up off my ass and check).
EDIT: Just checked the store and I have a section listed for PS3/PSP movies on the right of the store front, but clicking it doesn't do anything.Last edited by Number45; 16-07-2008, 22:39.

Looks like Region Locking's becoming the in thing for Sony

While you can visit anyone's private apartment, all public pavilions are restricted by your geographical area.

Nothing new because games like Motorstorm did it and frankly I couldn't care less about that aspect in Home because I won't be wandering trying to pick up strangers, but makes you wonder (particularly after the conference where they started talking about tying things to profiles a lot more).
EDIT: I've just had a new release notification from the US PlayStation site. Looks like Elefunk is going to hit the US store today.

Unfortunately with the films it'll likely be 2009 that we actually get them.
It's not really about region locking, it's really not in Sony's interest to bar customers from having the opportunity to give them money and they have been region free on their catalogue titles on blu-ray all along.
It's a mine field trying to get downloadable films on a global scale as the distribution laws were set up long before the thought of global digital distribution was ever dreamt of.
I suppose the most obvious example is that Microsoft are still tied in legal knots just trying to get films down to Australia. I'd imagine too that compared to Australia that Europe was even worse as distribution rights could be with one company in the UK, another in Germany & yet another in France.
Unfortunately until the law catches up with digital distribution then discussions lasting many months concerning distribution rights, ratings and ownership rights between the dozens of involved parties are what these companies and us will have to contend with.
I was hoping that we'd follow perhaps a month later after the video store had been tested in the US for a while but I really wasn't expecting that to happen if I'm being honest.
