I'd certainly recommend Silent Hill but with a few disclaimers. The animation is poor, the models very old and blocky, textures very low-res, all very muddy and you can only see a few feet in front of you. If the older end of old 32-bit graphics offends you, this may be hard to get into and may lose you right at the start.

That said, the muddy look and visuals that are sometimes hard to make out actually really enhance the atmosphere. But that hurdle is still there to get over first.

The other thing is whether you're intending to play it on the PS3 or PSP. Many sections of the game are close to pitch black. It may not be great on the PSP unless you intend to just play it at home where you can darken the light around you.

Last disclaimer is that the controls are, to fall back on the overused term yet completely appropriate here, clunky.

If those things aren't an issue, go for it. It's very creepy, the sound is amazing. Story is mental. Voice acting piss poor but characters actually come together really well somehow. And an overall fantastic and creepy journey.

Think Tetris, but with garbage. That's the simplest description of Gomibako, a PlayStation Network puzzle game we found in the Sony booth here on the show floor of the 2008 Tokyo Game Show. It's a bit early for proclamations--we're only halfway through day one of TGS--but we can safely say that Gomibako is one of our favorite games of the show so far.

The goal of the game--if our understanding of it is correct--is to pile as much garbage as you possibly can into a huge junkyard crate without making it overflow. Various items (such as mattresses, teddy bears, bicycles, huge plastic slides, fire extinguishers, statues, and flaming swords) drop from a garbage carrier overhead, and you have some control over where and how they are placed. For instance, you can twist an item by pressing the circle button.

The key to the gameplay, it seems, is the physics of the objects themselves. Because you want to pile as much trash in the bin as possible, your best bet is to break the items, thus creating room for more junk. To do so, you can simply drop the item by pressing the up button on the directional pad. This will cause the object to drop and often shatter at the bottom of the container. It doesn't work all the time--teddy bears, for example, are awfully hard to shatter, and bigger items don't break easily, though they often bend under the weight of garbage that piles on top of them.

As the garbage piles up, you have a few weapons at your disposal. The aforementioned flaming sword, for example, will heat up and eventually set aflame any nearby garbage; if it burns enough to disintegrate, there will be a lot of room for you to pile more junk in. On the flip side, some objects--such as toilets, will splash water onto the floor of your junk container. As the water builds up, it will prevent that bottom layer from burning up. Add to that a strange little alien dude who roams back and forth near the ground, picking out certain items from your garbage pile he likes and removing them, and you've got a strange and wonderful recipe for fun.
Japan (Y1500) and Honk Kong ($112) only at the moment. Not really sure the video helps explain much of what's going on.

Anyone know where Silent Hill has disappeared to. Was gonna buy it last night but it`s not showing up anymore

When I bought it, I went to 'latest' and it was in psone classics folder. Have a look in there, or go to full games, then psone and it should be there...hope this helps.....

Checked on my psp and it's definately not there no more, it's still under my downloaded files though. Maybe theres an emulation issue so they've taken it down temporarily, the store gets updated again tomorrow so it may be back then.

This wouldn't be the first time.

I remember Cool Boarders 2 was added to the EU store many months ago but I noticed it was missing too a while back.

                        Re Silent Hill:

We have unfortunately had to remove Silent Hill from the PlayStation Store due to unforeseen circumstances. If you have already purchased the game, you will not be affected by this. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and will update you as soon as we have more information.

Wouldn't get hopes up about it coming back. As I mentioned earlier, it isn't the first time a PSone classic has gone AWOL and they never return. Such a shame.
