please say this is a joke!!
    what are you meaning?
if someone writing an essay on a game means it must be deep... then surely someone going to the lengths of making a film, makes another much more deep?
People'll write essays on anything, doesn't make them good, or complicated, or intelligable.
True, something may be cryptic or have hidden meaning, then again, it could just be a story badly manifest. just because it's difficult to understand doesn't mean it's intellectual, it just mightn't make sense.
People write essays on coronation street.
Yes but they where only made into films as they were amazingly mainstream and successful games. They all used a weak storyline and all the films were shi*te!!
    and wasn't ff made into a movie?(yes i know it was cr*p)[/quote]

I wasn't referring to the quality of the films, i was responding to your point, proposing that something being more prolific, appearing in different media and so on does not mean that it's amazing, although admittedly FF7 is.

If I was to write an essay on Tetris, would that make it a 'deep' and 'clever' game as well?

Depends on your interpretation of said game.

        Subjective.

What may be a 'deep' game for one person, may be 'simple' for the next.
