Price for Japanese consoles has (finally) gone down

Looking at NCSX this morning noticed that the prices for the Jpn console have gone down significantly, $629 for the 20gb and $759 for the 60gb machine . With VF5 out in little over a month don't think I can hold out much longer .

        I got a 60gb PS3 (US version) yesterday on E-Bay for $610. I also got a 20GB one for $600. I got a HK 60GB PS3 with 3 games and 2 controllers for $710. The deals are out there....keep hunting!

Prices are certainly getting cheaper all over the place, ebay included.

Bottom line is, if your the type who's gonna sit there in a months time getting all hot and bothered about how you 'could have got it for $100 less if you'd waited', don't bother because you'll regret it.

But I don't regret getting my machine... I paid over the odds, but I still paid about what I'd of paid if I'd of bought it in the UK, and I've had a good solid few months of fun with the machine. I've enjoyed it.

Depends what kind of person you are with this kinda stuff.

Remember you have access to the Blu-Ray lineup too. Though that said, the HD-DVD stuff really is more interesting right now.

The machines themselves are region free for PS3 games, but some games can 'detect' the region of the console and adjust themselves, for example, Resistance is censored on a Japanese machine, Sonic apparently is both Japanese and English depending on the region of the console.
These are *exceptions*, most games are the same regardless of the region of the machine they are run on.

PS1/2 games are locked to their respective regions. Blu-Ray movies are region A on both Japanese and US machines. DVD movies are Region 1 in US, 2 in Japan (both NTSC only).

I actually bought a 20GB machine and ut the money I saved towards a 120GB HDD. The only other real differences between the machines are the lack of memory stick ports (USB memory stick adaptors still work though, as do USB devices like HDD's) and the lack of WiFi, neither of which I really needed.

Yeah, Ive managed to get a PlayStation 3 from eBay *waits for it to arrive*. After a friend of mine (Shozuki on this forum) got it and I played on it. Kinda liked it, still wasnt gonna import it but I got tempted to buy one when I saw the price and stuff like Tekken 5 DR and GTHD.

Also have F1 Championship Edition Japanese and I can't wait to play it!!!!

I paid £420 for mine, but thats minus the tax, does anyone have a clue how much that might be?

RECENT EDIT ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! VIRTUA FIGHTER 5!!! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I've just got a 60gigger from an ebay seller in the UK for ?470. I'm going to pick it up personally tommorrow so no pain of waiting for international shipping and no customs. Just need something to play on it now.

Anyone find this a bit dodgy?

What is the pre-approved bidders all about?

Looks very dodgy - getting click referrals to go on the bid list How can it be listed as new if they got it 1st December. So they've sat and looked at a box for a month before thinking of selling it on for what I'd imagine is a decent loss. Throw in no PayPal Protection (shield) and I wouldn't go near it.

I'm on the hunt for a 20GB after seeing the prices come to a more reasonable figure the past week. Motorstorm, F1, VF5 and a free GT demo is worth getting one for the current prices. Hopefully I'll grab an already UK-ified machine but the JPN sellers are pretty much the same even if you add in postage and customs.

fair play mate, i know how it feels to be short on the cash :'(

Glad to see the prices have dropped. Ive had mine around a month now, and tbh i didnt pay much more than the current prices anyway. But I wouldnt change a thing, Ive absolutely loved playing on my ps3 for those 4 weeks, and its genuinely got me back into gaming, a pasttime that i hadnt given a toss about for over a year.
