    WarioWorld first impressions

"Dinner for one" if I ever played one, but not all that bad because of it.

Sometimes you don't want to have to spend 70-odd hours playing through a massive game, it's competent enough to be picked up for a few minutes, enjoyed and put back down.

I've only just started, but as a fun side scrolling platformer this should do the trick of acting as a light snack before I vanish into another sprawling epic of a game.

The rather bizzare camera took a while to get used to, and the textures can vary from well done to poor, but all in all I found the first level to be a laugh so we'll see how the rest of it goes.

i am really enjoying the game - it reminds me of an old school platformer in its execution.

only thing i will say is that continues are too cheap - i have been refusing to use one upto now (hardly like you need to since the game isn't that difficult)

Yeah, it's easy and it's short but it's fun so I'm not too worried.
There are more than enough games out there which have you scrimping for every last drop of life energy before blowing your brains out, I'm glad this isn't one of them.

Hell if I wanted to drive myself nuts about continues I've Ikaruga sitting in my Dreamcast and not enough ability in my thumbs.

For some reason, the game reminds me of Tombi on the PlayStation. That was a class game .

I love the old school platforming, but I'm not so keen on the combat. It all feels a bit random at times, some of them go flying, some of them just go dizzy... I think they should've used more of the buttons for the various moves and maybe let you jump on the bad guys heads.

The characters are inspired though, much nicer than in Mario Sunshine. The area you go to when you fall down some of the pits is plain bizzare.

You've no idea how well that sums up my current gaming life.

Actually. By the sounds of it - you do

Definite fun there... currently just got one level left to go. Rinsed each level first time through but each one took about an hour to do in total. So I'm up to about 8 hours total so far including boss battles...

I played some of this in a demo pod and thought it was loads of fun...I'm considering picking it up, the killer question now, tho, is this: is it as fun as Wario Ware?? Cos that could last me a lifetime

It's nothing like Warioware, nor is it in the same league in terms of fun and innovation, but it is a fantastically well put together piece of software. Think of Klonoa mixed with Final Fight and Mario Sunshine's special levels and you're nearly there.

It's a Milky Way game. Delicious, light and won't spoil your appetite between heavier games .

Treasure must have been taking lessons from Nintendo on those "special stages" as a couple of them made me swear profusely ft:

I tried to like this game, I really did. But I found the central character to be more annoying than funny, and Ive seen the gameplay oh so many tiems before. I dont think its a bad game, but I think my tolerance of platform games has all but disappeared, especially cutesy ones like this. Perhaps it was just not my cup of tea.

It's a platformer, doesn't claim to be anything more. It's Wario, he's loud and somewhat annoying. It does exactly what it says in the tin, and does it in a light way.

Different strokes for different folks Marcus, but with this game there's no middle ground people either like it, or they don't. Either of which is fine.
