The holy racing trinity of racing games:

      Excitebike 64
      1080 Snowboarding
      Wave Race 64

And the second best platform game on the system, Rocket: Robot on Wheels (and not because I'm trying to sell my copy )

I've often heard that said. Why is it the case? I've only played the DC version...

I don't suppose any of you guys know anywhere that's selling brand new N64 controllers do you? If so, could you point me in that direction please?
Well www.chipsworld.co.uk are selling them at ?19.99 a pop, but If I were you I'd really think about popping into your local GameStation (or Chips) and having a look at the condition of the 2nd hand pads because they will be a LOT cheaper and often only require a quick clean to look like new.

            BTW. My favorate N64 games:-

            Blast corps
            JetForce Gemini
            Conkers BFD
            Banjo Tooie
            Goldeneye
            Perfect Dark
            Mischief Makers
            RR64
            Pokemon Snap (Dont laugh)
Pokemon Puzzle Legue (Hey, Stop laughing)
            Lylat Wars

I basically bought the machine to play RARE games......

Care to elaborate? I've heard that before too, but nobody's ever told me why?

toy_brain - cheers fella; I nipped into my local Gamestation & they tried to sell me a pad with a broken stick - I stood at the counter & laughed so hard I nearly cried

Both of the zeldas and Pilotwings are essential.
After that blast corps and jet force gemini (give it a chance, it starts off slowly) are excellent, mario tennis and golf are good.
Mischief makers and yoshi are both good 2D platformers.

dont buy a secondand N64 pad the analog stick is very flimsy, and if you have had some heavy handed gimp owening it before its never gonna last long. another thing that isnt very nice is that the recsese, that the analog stick sits in fills with sweat and grease of peoples hands not very nice to clean off and causes the pad to stick.

the pads are very dificuilt to repair you need a special nintendo screwdriver, and geting the spring back in under the analog stick is frustration itself a task created by the devil if ever i saw one.

You should have seen the state of the pad that my local Gamestation tried to flog me - knackered is not the word.

However, I can't find anywhere that stocks new pads Just have to keep looking I guess

                      N64 pads are awful.

Not in terms of build or design, but in terms of durability. The stick simply gets absolutely canned after a few years, and compared to other last-gen consoles using analogue control (especially the Saturn), the N64 pad is horrible the older it gets.

I can see this being a real problem for future "retro" collectors 10 or 15 years down the line.

That's also my greatest concern. I have a couple of pads left that are still in mint condition mainly because I've always stocked up on them like wildfire in the past.

I still play Perfect Dark" nearly everyday, my friends have their own pads but theirs are wearing out now.

The slightest hint of 'stick-grit' can put me off a good time attack sesh on F-Zero X. The future doesn't look very bright.
