Wow the Dizzy games were excellent. The one I have the most memories of is Fantasy World Dizzy. It took me literally days to figure out that I had the give the bread to the rat above the room with the troll guarding the door.
I think all of the Dizzy games should be remade/ported to the GBA, that would be sweet...

How about the later Dizzy adventure games Prince Of The Yolkfolk and Spellbound Dizzy?

Yolkfolk was proably the easiest of the lot and Spellbound was quite tough, but for some reason, my non-pirate copy on the Amiga had an infinite lives cheat built-in making it easier - and more enjoyable overall since you didn't have to repeat vast chunks of the game.

Treasure Island Dizzy, omfg you could have a SNORKLE!!!

I can't remember which one this was though, but can someone remember the room made of bricks, and you had to escape, because some bricks you could step on and others you couldn't? (Hard to explain...but on the Speccy it was all yellow)

Magicland DIzzy is one of my faves though, crossing that moat by jumping on the shark, going into the sky to see the Harpies, and the Ice Castle were all perfect gaming moments.

                Thanks wicky for reminding me

The room you were refering to was in Fantasy world dizzy, i think the screen was called "Incredible Illusion" where there was a room full of yellow bricks and it was impossible to tell which were solid & which were part of the background.

The dizzy series of games are one of my favourite series of games on the speccy one of the reasons i had one in the first place. Sadly codemasters dont care about dizzy anymore and they wont make any new dizzy games & to make it worse they wont give permission to let the spectrum tape images be allowed onto the net.

Luckily i got copies of every single version both 48K & 128K off the net before they were all taken down screw you codemasters ft:

They should be flattered that even in this day & age people still enjoy playing ancient spectrum games. (End Rant)

                    You sir, are the don!

It took me about an hour to get out of there, dizzy's jumping was a little too awkward

Did anyone play the NES version of Dizzy? Apparently this was the definitive version according to the magazines at the time, and I never got to play it

On a side note, I spoke to Phil Oliver (of Oliver Twins fame) at a seminar, and asked him if there was any chance of a revival..

His answer was that although he has no plans, and wouldn't ever like to revive Dizzy, his company Blitz Games tries to include the philosophies used in the Dizzy series in each of his games.

Looking at Fusion Frenzy, Tax: Wanted and Lilo and Stich however, I find this very hard to believe....

Treasure Island Dizzy's inspired snorkel with even better "if it's not in the last place in your inventory you'll drop it when you pick up items underwater and drown' techique.

kids these days don't appreciate frustration on that level.

The NES Dizzy was pretty good, if it's the same as the Game Gear game I played ages ago on a mates GG. Ludicrously hard though due to not having a save feature. It was a compendium (kind of) of various Dizzy games, with many puzzles and familiar things from earlier games rolled into one.

For example, you got to climb trees like in TI Dizzy, go down the mines like in Dizzy 1 and there was a troll (I think) like in Magic... Plus there were mini games based on Bubble Dizzy, Dizzy Down the Rapids and one of those slidy-block puzzles.

Apparently, Codemasters don't fancy resurecting Dizzy. Seems a bit odd that the Codies have a the rights to a lot of these old-skool heroes but aren't using them at all - don't they own a lot of Sensible Softwares back catalogue now too? - all we get is more Colin Mcrae and other dodgy sports games. The only sports game they should be doing is a GBA version of Sensible Soccer...

i think i remember the character being a fat orange thing?

Puggsy, by Psygnosis. The best version was on the Mega CD.
