    Streets of Rage music issue

SOR is ruined on the Wii. One of the great things about this game is its awesome soundtrack. The Wii's emulator doesn't sound like it emulates one of the sound chips properly. Some of the drum beats sound awful. (Especially the music to round 3 and the boss tunes). Also the sound jumps, skips and pops every few seconds as well. I am really disappointed at spending money on this. I already own the UK and JPN versions of this on Mega Drive. I wish I had just hooked my MD up now. After the Mario Kart debacle I thought there would be no further mistakes. I certainly won't be buying any more VC titles again.

I'm assuming this is a problem for everyone?

Yep, same problem here on my US one. Disappointing.

It is really surprising that Sega hasn't ever been able to emulate Mega Drive's soundchip correctly. Especially when you consider that many homebrew emulators do it rather well.

What was this one about once again? If I remember correctly, people were complaining about bugs that were actually on original game and no emulator related at all. Or was there something else too?

There is a slight music issue on MK where certain sound effects and music seem to be at a slightly higher sample rate. Also there's the entire ghost issue.

Well I own the Sega Smash Pack Vol.1 on Dreamcast and the sound issue is there for at least 2/3 of the games on it. So, its probably Sega who isn't able to make it right...

I remember that. The emulation was awful. I think I read somewhere that the author of Kega (or some other emulator) offered to let Sega use it for the DC but Sega declined the offer.

At least the Wii's Mega Drive emulator isn't that bad. I think anyone who has bought SOR on the VC should be able to get a refund though. The end product is a breach of the trade descriptions act. There was no warning before I downloaded it, informing me that the sound would be messed up. I really think there needs to be a trial download mode (like XBLA). If you like the game, then you can pay to get the full version. At least you would know whether the games was broken or not before you paid.

Well, a trial with like 1 level or limited playtime would be great, because I don't know if I should download Kid Icarus or not... Well, maybe one day...

Sounds pretty accurate to me. Maybe not 100% but close enough. I have no complaints!

Play Stage 3 on the soundtest and wait until it's just about to get to the main 'chorus'. You'll hear it

Some may say it's anal, but it's SoR. The music is key.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

It's not just the sound that's off, it's also the fact that it jumps and skips too. That alone would be bad enough.

The ONE Thing that absolutely had to be nailed 100% in the game and they ****ed it up ?

One less download. They need to get their **** together with the VC it's rapidly losing it's appeal to me - No Mario Kart 64 ghosts was utterly unacceptable

why do you spend money on a game you already have - sounds like money for old rope

Just for the ease of use really. I don't have all my consoles hooked up at the same time. It's too much hassle to set the MD up if I fancy a bash on SOR. I prefer to have all my games in one place. I have learned my lesson though. I'm not buying any more VC titles.
