DK Barrel Blast and Super Paper Mario have now disappeared from Play-Asia, so was Twilight Princess the last JPN release?

Twilight Princess was my last game for it, I know that much. The PS2 will suffer a similar fate when God of War 2 appears, unless the Wii version of Manhunt 2 isn't the one to get.

As for the DC... it outlives everything. They'll still be making shooters come 2100.

Well there's Radio Allergy (US version of the JP DC game Radilgy) coming pretty soon. I think that's the last one (for a while anyway).

Seems silly that they've dropped everything for it as they can get lots of games sold due to Wii fever.
It wouldn't surprise me if a few GC games had some reprints soon.

well actually what irritated me was the way with the original xbox the games just suddenly stopped like microsoft just switched it off

still think even the original xbox had potential for more stuff

I was talking more from a personal perspective. I can't see myself buying much more for the PS2 after it's big mid-year releases.

The Wii's success could actually be the console which helps to sustain PS2 development as a lead platform if Nintendo doesn't encourage the port situation to change. Wouldn't it be slightly strange if the Wii ended up dragging development share and resources away from the PS3/360 by proxy via the PS2, due to the low-cost attractiveness?

Didn't the PS1 get FIFA up until 2005? I can see the Wii and PS2 working really well together for software depending on the performance of titles such as Medal of Honor Vanguard and Manhunt 2.

I'm surprised Burnout Dominator isn't coming out on Wii actually, but yeah low cost, huge userbase, I mean PS3 "should" be capable of playing PS2 releases too so that should add even more to the attraction.

That's kind of my point. Things are going to be even more transitional with this generation thanks to the fact that technologically the Wii is attractive towards the PS2-like development. They'll sustain each other.

It may not be a long-term indicator, but you can look at Japan's blanket two fingers towards the PS3 and 360 so far for the signs. Is that a healthy thing?

It depends. If the games are good, excellent. If the games are weak ports with substandard visuals because the controller/group mult-play dynamic takes up the attractiveness to certain audiences over graphical fidelity, then it won't the industry much good if publishers place limited or 'don't give a ****' resources on polish.

This could be a really weird hybrid-like generation for the next 2-3 years due to the costs of developing for the next-gen. If you can make games for less and hit more people in a shorter time-frame, then you can guess where most of the development will gravitate.

Thing is, outside of the puritanical and optimistic game designers, where will the coding and the artist talent want to move toward? Probably high-def and next-gen to stretch themselves. As a result, that could mean lots of cheaply made, non-too great looking games (even by current gen standards) potentially on the Wii and as a result of its userbase - the PS2.

This'd be the worst case scenario though.

You never know, we may see plenty of fresh games for the Wii a la DS, ported over to the PS2 rather than the other way around. It'd be preferable over the long term.

Chances are they were found buried at the back of the Warehouse... We often get brand new GC/XB/GBA games delivered and we chuck them straight into pre-owned. Heck we had a pile of sealed new DC games delivered a few weeks back...
