Being the huge RPG fan that I am, Oblivion has to top my list. Its just a shame it was released so close to the last couple of months of my university course Bring on March 27th - the addiction continues!

Final Fantasy XII anyone? Or is that a case of love/hate? A game of the year for some however and I have to say its quite brilliant - so much so I bought it twice (and I'm usually the last person to do that without good reason)

Gears of war for me, was a massive disappointment - outside of the odd online game I found it boring and annoying. In my eyes this was highly overrated and were it not for the visuals, I'd imagine the game would have died on its arse.

Oblivion exceeded my expectations and am thinking of re-visiting the game again at Easter.
Big mentions for RE4 and Metroid Prime. Prime was a work of genius and all the hype didn't prepare me for the atmosphere that the game created.

I agree with Daragon about Gears of War though.

I understand where you're coming from regarding Gears visuals but I can assure you that its the gameplay that makes me play it online nearly every day for a few hours, not how it looks.

I'd imagine thats the same for my mate who doesn't have a HDTV. The gameplay is what keeps me coming back, you don't have time to stare at the visuals in the online mode.

Yeah I agree. Cheers for saying it though because I wouldn't have the bottle to say it, I know a lot of people on here like it and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Lost Planet still amazes me. I'm not sure if it should even go on the list, it didn't have much hype, it just was a surprised hit! I can give you a list of surprised hits if you want!
