If someone says they're waiting for a PAL release, whatever the reason, they are often thought to be inferior...[snip]...Now, this doesn't affect this forum as much, but it was a big problem on the old Edge fora - there was in effect just one view, the forum view, and anything else was sneered at. As a result, the forum became dull, lifeless, full of pettiness, and worthless. Luckily, NTSC-UK doesn't seem to be going down this route, since there's still occasional debate.

You obviously missed the topic I started in PAL gaming about how some games play better in PAL than NTSC (like R-Types for example).

Boy did I get spanked over that one, mainly by some who thought I was trying to imply that all PAL games were superior.

I tend to lurk more than post here now.

You shouldn't become a lurker because of just one topic
It happened to be probably the one major source of arguments possible on these forums (PAL vs NTSC, as we don't really have console wars), and you were unlucky enough to start it. As you've lurked, you should have seen we don't have that many nasty arguments, and most are reasonable debates...most of the time

Bah, never mention the PAL acronym here even in passing! Someone is always ready to start spitting about how it's a disgrace etc that PAL and videogames don't get along!

I remember loving the tremendous build-up of anticipation prior to new releases in the 80s, just reading print mags, the only source of info besides wom back then.

With the media overexposure of today for me the magic is mostly gone.
It's like movie trailers. They often drain all mystery. When you've read & seen too much about a game it will limit your experience.
