    It is "Armored Core",
    Quite.

    Silent Line
    AC3
    Another Age
    AC2

All are excellent and you can transfer data between AC2 and Another Age, and AC3 and Silent Line. Sadly not between AC2 and AC3 along with their progeny. I have a suspicion this was removed from the PAL release. Someone care to clarify this?

Of course you could check out PSone:

    Master of Arena
    Project Phantasma
    AC

But after battling through the PS2 versions they will seem positively antiquated.

For a bit more info check here:

Phantom Crash on the xbox is pretty good while it lasts, combat fast, effect great and the music and characters brilliant . based around Mecha tournament ciruit where you have battle up the ranks of pro's and rookies in the 3 different areas of tokyo to face the '1st area Ranker' along the whay you meet all kinds of characters battling it out on and off the battle areas. the problem is it onyl has 3 areas the play in and while the tournament are different it really drags on near the end of the game, plus once you get a winning combo of scoobie parts you rarely need to changes unless the Area ranker for the tournament your in has certain weak point you can't explot and get hammered (dammed YOU Roy).

      And there always Robotech

Still i think the best mainly because of the atmosphere is makes through graphics, sound and animation is MSG:fed vs Zeon DX (get DX cos they added a ton of new things)

Indeed, the PAL releases of Armored Core 2 and Armored Core 2 Another Age do not allow the player to transfer their save data. This is due to the fact that the British releases were published by different companies.

It is also worth noting that the British release of Armored Core 3 also lacks four player iLink support.

In all fairness though, the Armored Core 2 branch of the franchise plain sucks. With a really imbalanced parts system and suffering from chronic slowdown (as well as being a slow game anyway), they aren't that great. If Kei wants a next-gen Armored Core game, then he should try out Armored Core 3 (especially Silent Line).

Visually, yes. In terms of gameplay, however, Master of Arena is really really ****ing good.

As for linking to Western Armored Core sites, it isn't worth it. Most of, if not all the, non-Japanese players are utter muppets.

...alternatively play Armored Core, which is what Phantom Crash was "inspired" by.

Renpou vs Zeon is very easy to get to grips with, but in terms of depth of gameplay then you should really be playing Zeonic Front or Lost War Chronicles.

          Thanks for all the recommendations!

I'm getting AC silent line on Friday! I looked at the movies on a main game sinte, looks amazing! Really fast action!

Steel Battalion looks a bit slow? Dunno it may still be good.

I also have a Saturn , gotta try and get the original Virtual on game!

I would also recommend the Blue Destiny series of Gundam games on the Saturn (there are a total of three). They are damn solid.

If you have a PC (not a Mac), have a look for Mechwarrior 2 and its addons. Probably the best mech games ever.

If you wish to converse with AC lovers in a language that most users of this forum understand then acgarage is a friendly place and users will happily point you to Japanese sites if you so desire.

...but they aren't the best at what they do. The best resource for Western players is the, dare I say it, Core Depot. Admittedly the overall standard of Western Armored Core "fandom" has drastically dropped over the past few years (I blame Armored Core 2 for this, it was made for muppets) but the Depot has retained most of its knowledgeable members. Seriously, all the other Western sites copy these guys.

That being said, most of the Western sites are based in the States. If Kei is looking for help on Armored Core then I can highly recommend the counsel of Zed (an NTSC-uk and Core Depot forumite).

Naturally I offer services too, but they will cost ya

Yep i'm an AC slut and trade (possibly dubious) advice for VS action Have played all the PAL releases and AC3: Silent Line and vouch for it's supremacy. I have even managed to train my AI bot up to the point that it can beat any two enemy CPU ACs! Such a great, great mecha game.
