What's Your Favourite Console of the Last Generation?

Now the next gen has finally got underway, what is your favorite console of the last generation and why?

Mine is the Dreamcast (yes it was apart of the last gen, although it never had a look in by the time the Cube and Xbox came out) with the GameCube at a very close 2nd.

Reason being is as well as the Cube, it's probably the last truly hardcore gaming machine we are ever going to see, plus it had Shenmue and Phantasy Star Online! The console was way ahead of it's time! Online gaming, VGA connection, stunning graphics etc etc. You know the story by now...

Tough choice. PS2 has a larger number of games that I really like (and has given so many years of great releases), but the DC has games that I would be more likely to remember for a longer time. GC and Xbox are absolutely nowhere in this discussion for me, they both promised much and didn't quite deliver. Head says PS2, but heart says...

      Dreamcast.

1 For me its my Gc man i loved that little cube till this day the most fun i've had ina multiplayer session was super smash bros.
2 The dreamcast i only got a short loan of it but it was ****ing class shenmue, soul calibur, crazy taxi and house of the dead all kept me hooked for days each. I even clocked a 20 hour session of shenmue in the process.

Dreamcast for me, it was the first console I bought myself rather than receiving them as presents and I loved every minute of it, quality release after quality release just kept pouring in. I would say that it is my favourite console ever.

How do i vote in a poll???
            i cant see an option.

for me it's the gamecube, so much fun games, crazy taxi, zelda windwaker (i loved it), replaying zelda majoras mask etc, smash bros multiplayer, mario kart (altho its lamest of the series), but most of all. Resident evil 4. Wow. i've probably put over 200 hours into that game its so amazing.

Genuinely surprised that I'm only the second person to vote PS2. Despite the over-hyping and any adverse effect that PS2's dominance might have had on the industry, it's still a whole world of gaming in itself.

While the GameCube had its fair share of high quality titles and the Xbox satisfied the FPS audience, neither of them had the wide range of quality titles that the PlayStation 2 is home to. The only disadvantage I can think of towards the PS2 is the server lack of FPS but when the Xbox had so many - far too many - I didn't care.

                Here goes:

                Beat ‘um up

                Dynasty Warriors 4
                God Hand
                Mark of Kri, The
                Viewtiful Joe
                Warriors, The

                Fighting > 2D

                Capcom vs. SNK 2
                Guilty Gear X2
                Street Fighter Anthology

                Fighting > 3D

                Soul Calibur III
                Tekken 5
                Virtua Fighter 4

It's too close to call, I guess the PS2 had the most games, but the console itself was **** :P

There are loads of Gamecube games that I loved also and the Xbox featured the game I have played the most in my entire gaming legacy.

                        1) Dreamcast - So many games that I loved, and Sega was absolutely on fire during this time. They tried something new in almost every game, and pushed hardware too with the online component. It was also the best by a long way for fighting games, which helps with me. What happened to the Sega I loved!?
                        2) PS2 - It had a slow start and took a while to win me over, but now it's got an immense library and a great price. One of the strongest libraries ever, in fact, and might have overtaken the Dreamcast were it not for the fact that it murdered the Dreamcast and it doesn't have as many of my all-time faves.
                        3) Xbox - Only beaten by the PS2 on sheer number of games. Some brilliant games of its own, the best versions of most multiplatform titles, all the amazing homebrew stuff, and Xbox Live
                        4) GameCube - I was never a big fan. Aside from some great work by Nintendo (obviously) and Capcom, the Cube didn't do a lot for me. It has more than enough stuff to make it worth having, though.

Thinking about this post reminded me of how brilliant the last generation actually was. A definite contender for the best ever.

was a chuck up between the dreamcast and the Gamecube

but voted for the Dreamcast, only because of the shooters back catalogue

                              PS2 because it has:

                              Simple 2000 series
                              SNK ports
                              Winning eleven 10
                              Cave shooters
                              SF Zero Fighters Generation

Plus all the 'family' games like Buzz, Singstar & Guitar Hero.
