It looks quite good but as I am trying to cut down on games so I need to know if this is an 'essential' purchase.
judging from the famitsu reviews some time ago (the game came out in japan last month) its a good piece of software but not a essential purchase. got something like 26 or less (will check).

i just had a look at the official site (http://www.mto-power.com/etc/pumpkin_nqp2.html). the game basically looks like a 3D action jump'n run the likes of crash bandicoot and co. set in a helloween world. pretty uninteresting it seems. available for ps2 and gc. plus there's a pumpkin-gba game too.

Cheers for the help. I just quite liked the look of the game and the fact that you are supposed to be able to link the 2 characters.

The Cagliostro game is largely a point 'n' click adventure. I don't know what kind of format that GC game would take ... the artwork suggests something similar though.

There was an (apparently) action-orientated PS2 Lupin game recently, mind - Majutsu no Isan ~ perhaps you should look into that ?

I've got the gba one and its a pretty poor platform game overall (i doubt this helps).

According to the only post on the gamefaqs board which made any sense:

It's a pretty cool platformer, actually, but now that Viewtiful Joe, Wario World and Ape Escape 2 have arrived, it's kind of "on hold". Mahou No Pumpkin is pretty basic, with graphics you could rate as "good" and gameplay that is pretty straightforward...but it's PUMPKIN!

More in-depth than normal for Gamefaqs

I think I am just going to have to take the plunge and buy it.

What did you mean by 'link the characters', LC ...

2 player mode, like with Kikikaikai or something ?

I was only going on the Gamespot preview that I linked too earlier where it mentions you have to use both characters to progress. However thinking about it this could just mean you might just do each level with the 2 characters rather than them physically linking.

Wasn't this released in Europe as Castleween?

Just did a search for Castleween and it appears to be the same, although I can only find the PS2 and GBA versions.

Now can anyone tell me if the GC and PS2 versions are the same game as I can get the PS2 one for ?10-15?
