I enjoy the achievement aspect of 360 games and believe it is a very good creation/innovation that will stay be with games for many gens to come.

Like many others before me have stated, they encourage me to try different aspects of games, different tactics and so on. This is a good thing imo and it has actually increased my enjoyment of some games.

I'm not an achievement whore and just because an achievement is there, it does not mean I'll work for it. For example, I don't like annex in gears, so I won't ever bother getting those.

But thats not to say its all rosey, because achievements have on occasion ruined my enjoyment of games. Typically this is during online gaming with other people who are achievement whores. For example, playing gears online the other night, ranked warzone (I want seriously as I enjoy the game enough to want to achieve 10k kills) 2 people on my team were doing nothing other than frag tagging. They weren't playing for the team, they weren't using any other weapons (even when faced with a shotgun at point blank range). All they were doing was frag tagging. Because "I'm going for the achievement". ****ing wankers! That ruins my enjoyment of games. The singleminded obsessedly driven mentality of these idiotic animated piss-stains, these abortions that should have been, ruins my enjoyment of games.

Do these morons not realise that they'll get there eventually by just playing the game normally? It would appear not, the achievement fever takes over. Tossers, and how I delight in telling them

Agree with Kubrick, think I'm in the same boat with you, I've played through and got proper moneys worth out of so many games recently thanks to achievements. Not because I really care about the points or anything, it is just a laugh, and I'll only do stuff in a game to get points if I really enjoy it anyway, no point in grafting away doing something boring as hell just for points!

Has anyone ever got the achievement in Geometry wars where you have to get to a million points without being killed once?

I can only get to 300,000ish and thats using all my lives!

I think Crackdown has been one of the best examples of well-integrated achievements so far. Most of them are genuinely fun/satisfying to go after (apart from the Street Racing...) and help prolong what is an otherwise pretty short game. Dead Rising has similar fun stuff to do but the time limit kinda dictates what you can do, and when.
Get this man a cookie or something, totally agree with you dude. I find i get much more out of my games by trying to go after the achievements, and i dont do it for the score i just do it cause its like a challenge. I deffinetly miss them on my PS3 games, without them the games on the PS3 seem to be missing an extra dimension if that makes sense.
