    Monster Madness - Demo

Been keeping an eye on this one since it was first announced as it sounded like Loaded / Reloaded (cor, remember those?) but tarted up and with more than a liberal dash of zombies and monsters to mash up.

Having played the demo I'm not sure what to make of it. There's plenty to kill, tons of stuff to kick around (and some of the scenery interactions are satisfying) and the fact that almost everything can be used as a weapon of some sort in a Dead Rising stylee, makes the demo feel like a more arcade zombie title.

But I'm having a bit of a problem with that.

Aside from the guns the close range weapons seem to be pretty ineffective and the characters health keeps getting whole chunks taken off it using anything other than something with long range capabilities. Most of the weapons are also really slow and seem pretty useless.

There does seem to be plenty of health packs left around by downed enemies so perhaps I'm playing it wrong and shouldn't be shying away from close combat as much -to just accept taking damage as part of the game?

Dunno, but I can't help but shake the feeling that this is a Live Arcade game that's been stretched out to a full release.

It'll be interesting to see what price point the full thing is launched at - if it's full price I won't bother, but as a budget release I could still be tempted.

Pretty under whelmed with the demo tbh. Had been looking forward to this, especially with the 4 player co-op.

The controls seemed a little clumsy. I was expecting it to play like smash TV but it seems a little odd using the left stick to move, the right stick to turn and the right trigger to fire.

It's handy having the arrow under your character showing which direction you're facing as it can be awkward when the screen gets busy or you go behind the scenery.

Still eager to get some 4 player action going on though.

Dunno, but I can't help but shake the feeling that this is a Live Arcade game that's been stretched out to a full release.

i gave this about 5 mins before deciding it was unplayable but pretty looking rubbish.

shame as the screen shots and previes had looked decent.

Yep it's complete and utter ****e.

This runs on the UE3 - Epic shouldn't let them shout about it hardly a glowing example of the power of the engine !

The online looked tacked on as well - but I couldn't get a game it seems everybody was sensible yesterday there were no games to be found.

This and Shrek the third - what a week for demos - still it's tantamount to a public service that they share this ****e with us so we know not to buy it !

Grabbed By The Ghoulies only worse - that's what it is.

Played it in both 2 player compaign and 2 player versus, and it stinks in both modes. Control is just a total mess, I had no idea which way I was pointing most of the time, and the zombies take far too much damage before they die. Visuals look like an Xbox 1 budget game and the sound I can't even remember it was so mediocre.

Pants basically. This wouldn't be worth 400 points as an XBLA title, let alone full price.

I was hoping this would bring back good memories of Zombies At My Neighbours, but judging by the above comments I won't hold my breath! Shame.

Yup really dissapointed, as mentioned the controls are terrible. The only decent music is when you use a special. It's just chaos but not the good type, objects are so ineffective you tend to stick to the guns

I thought the controls were fine. It's just twin stick controls with right trigger to shoot (which makes perfect sense to me - I can't fathom why it's such an issue). As an opening level it's pretty underwhelming, but I can see this game might have some legs seeing the variety that comes later on.

It's exactly as expected really: Dumb fun that will only really work on four player co-op.

The humour is completely lost on me, the characters and their catchphrases sound like something an adult might say to appeal to the kidz with their wacky humour. The style just doesn't wash with me.

I really want to like it but everytime i think of something I like it throws an inane soundclip at me

I agree with you about the style - but it's so manic it's never an issue. It's hardly a game where you have the chance to sit back and gasp in awe at the wonderful vistas.

A bit disappointing really, something like this would have SO much potential but to be honest, it's just a mess of a game...
