    Bad display over component?

Tried to find a thread about this. Certain TV's don't like the 240-line mode the Wii sends out VC games in - the results is a graphical mess.

Please post here with your TV make and model if you are affected, as well as how the problem looks. I'll start:

Sharp LC-32P55E (all animated areas of the screen are ghosted/black)
    Official Nintendo component cable

Samsung LE26R41BD with a mad catz component cable. Evertything is hunky dory on the games I've played, which are TurboPC, NES, SNES, Genesis and N64 ones.

      Bush LCD32TV005HD
3rd Party Component AV Cable from Play-Asia.com

Game display squished vertically into the top half of the screen.
Bottom half of screen is a bright green flickering mess, looks partially like whatever was in the TV's framebuffer memory previously, now being displayed in the wrong mode.

I have the Panasonic TX-32LXD52 (2005 model); it is very crisp and provides a clean image through the official Wii component cable.

However all three N64 games I own - Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time - look quite blurry/washed out but that could just be the emulation making the game look like that to get rid of the jaggies and pixelated mess on certain textures.

On the other hand the NES, SNES, Mega-Drive and PC Engine games look superb through component and actually produces a better image than I can ever remember when playing the games as a young kid.

That may just be very accurate emulation as the machine itself does that.

Really seems like hit and miss depending on TV brand at the moment.

Absolutely perfect through progressive scan. Slight colour bleed from red colours in interlaced mode.

Your LCD screen doesn't like the signal unfortunately, though this particular case looks worse than most, it could be a fault somewhere with either the wii, or tv.

                    I agree with you.

So I wondered if anybody had got anything else from Nintendo other than "we're looking into it"?

You could try going into the tv options and switching off any optional picture enhancements.

                        Hello,

I did little talking with my sources today, and we should see quite soon firmware update that fixes all component cable related issues by adding special interlaced mode to the VC games. You can already access this special mode in following games:

                        Super Mario Bros.
                        The Legend of Zelda
                        Donkey Kong Country
                        Super Castlevania IV
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
                        Legend of The Mystical Ninja
                        Punch-Out!!

Interlaced mode can be accessed by doing following:

                        1. Update game via shop
                        2. Start the game.
                        3. Press Home button.
                        4. Plug in your nunchuck.
                        5. Find your way to the manual of the game.
                        6. Press A, 2 and Z at the same time.
                        7. You should hear sound, and the game is in interlaced-mode.

There. From what I gathered, this will be only temporary solution.

EDIT: My friend who had component cable related problems with Punch-Out confirms this really works.

Is this applicable to all region versions of the Wii?

With my Samsung LCD tv using my GAME brand component cable, the picture doesnt come up at all in any of the VC games. It just says on the Tv that the signal is not compatible or somesuch.

                              Any ideas guys?
