Packing up for uni, which games to take?

Aye, I be heading abroad for uni next month and was wondering how many consoles and games should I take? I'm definitely taking my 360, Wii, PS3 but what about the classic consoles? I can't live without my SNES!

Oh, and anyone ever had their stuff stolen?

I'd say it depends on whether you want to pass or not!

When I was at Uni I took my Amiga with me for stuff like Sensi, but during that time I picked up a Megadrive for Fifa and then during 1st year, a little-known game called Doom was released. That was the end of uni for me.

If it was me I'd probably just take the one as you'll be doing a lot more socialising than staying in and playing games I'd have thought?

I would stick to just the 360. Solid all round brilliant console. No need or space for any others until you get into your second year and the drinking and socialising calms down a bit

If you take the Wii, you can just download the odd snes game when you feel the urge. Or take a modded xbox with the emu disc.

why do you need games when you'll have loads of uni girls to play with?

Take the Wii as it will be good fun with your uni mates.

If you are taking your Wii, 360 and PS3, I don't think you will need any more consoles. They will guarantee you plenty of friends and probably attract some gold-digging girls too.

If you are taking a 360, wii and ps3 when will you find the time to get any study done? lol

That's what I was thinking. I'd just take the one console.

I actually packed in gaming during my degree. The golden age of the N64/PSX/DC - whilst I am not saying you should go cold turkey I would definitely scale down the game playing whilst at uni. It's a great chance for you to socialise and meet new people with different ideas, etc - try and make the most of your uni experience, when you get working you'll look back and realise how great being a student was!

Just take the Wii, that'll be all you need for your gaming fix. Your halls room will be less likely to get broken into as well !!

Sold all my gaming stuff when I went to uni, although that was cause I needed the money.

Acquired a PSX in my second year though, not long after launch. But that was it until after I graduated.

My Gameboy didn't get to go to uni with me, because my mum refused to be deprived of Tetris.

My plan is to just take one console and one console only (possibly the 360), and also to seriously consider which games to focus on... the LAST thing you want in uni is to be distracted by something time consuming like RPG's, I'll certainly be focusing on something more bitesize and 'arcadey'.

It's worth remembering you won't really have the kind of finances required for playing the latest games on all 3 main consoles, it's really best to get focused on one specific thing, and make sure it's not something that you'll want to take priority over your work.

Sega arcade games of old were ideal for this.

Cheers for all the replies. Well, I know pretty well how to manage my time and if I can go without gaming for weeks in favour of some uni work I'd do it. Thing is it just feels as though you're going outside naked without your clothes on if I don't bring every single console

Take as much as you want. The first time I moved away from home I tried to go more-or-less cold turkey and it wasn't a good experience. It's only the weak willed who can't concentrate with consoles around. Why would it be any difference if you're away from home?

Also, the only people who get their stuff nicked are those stupid enough to leave their doors unlocked. A guy in a nearby halls left the front door unlocked and got his laptop stolen. Served him right. Luckily all the others had their room doors locked.

i was the same and took my playstation, snes, n64 and stacks of games with me ...

in less than a week all the machines were moved into the communal living area and got pretty heavily abused ... with the snes proving to be by far the favourite

in the end i sent my ps and n64 home and the snes was permanently hooked up with mario kart for the whole year ... resulting in some of my favourite gaming memories

... not really sure what point im trying to make here ... but i guess maybe its that you'll only need your snes
