I don't understand what you have against the word 'bastard'. It adds at least 6% to the score of the game.

Well, although I haven't played all of them, Nintendo was only publisher last year whose all own titles had average over 8 in Gamerankings. And from the games I marked only DKR was port. All other games were built from the ground for the DS.

I think he's classing fantastic games such as Yoshi's Island DS as "re-hashed franchises". Even though these "re-hashes" were by far some of the best games of the past year, and if you're going to consider them re-hashes, 99% of last years releases were re-hashes.

But you're moving the goalposts now. Initially, your contention was that most of the DS games from last year were "casual" (which is actually a blatant lie, but never mind...), and when this was disproved, you start going on about the apparent originality of the software (which was never a point of dispute). Bottom line; you're either interested in the machine or not. If you are, then like me and most others I imagine, you'd have found plenty of quality games to play on the DS (save Wario Ware, I don't own a single DS game that's a "casual/novelty/throwaway" affair).

Either way, it never fails to amaze me how Nintendo is the only company that gets accused of the above, even though we now have franchises on other platforms with numbers as high as 7, or in some cases 13. (And does the world really need a sixth Burnout game?). The amount of blatant LIES that get bandied about regarding Nintendo products is astounding.

Also, whilst I'm on this, I have to say that I'm somewhat suspicious of the motives of some of the posters in this thread (which should've just been called "Wii SuX PS3 ROX!!111 GO SoNT!!!!11!!!11!!11!!").

Yes, everyone's entitled to an opinion, but I can't understand why, on a forum for dedicated gamers, someone who has presumably been gaming for many years and should therefore know how things are, would ditch a console in only six short months and then go out of their way to announce to the world that they're doing so to pick up a rival console in its place (particularly when said rival is a lot more pricey and has even less games).

Now, if someone wants to ge a PS3 at this stage, it's entirely up to them, but a lot of the posts seem less about wanting a PS3 and more about wanting an excuse to have a dig at the Wii (which is acutally in a better position in terms of sales and software anyway). Again, the ntsc-UK I know is (was?) populated by people who love gaming rather than specific platforms, so I'd expect people to be more multi-platform orientated and, in turn more objective and open minded about things. Not so, obviously. :/

And as I saied before, a lot of the people calling themselves hardcore now just sound like fanboys.

ADY, you mentioned that some posts came across as fan boyish. Ironically, that's exactly how your last post appears to me.

Also, I didn't say the DS games were casual, I said they were a combination of casual/throw away/novelty. That's 3 separate feelings that could be applied to each game. That's my opinion. If I think that Starfox DS is a throw away title, it means I don't like it. It doesn?t make me wrong to have a difference of opinion to everybody else.

Elkatas: This is a bit off topic, and I didn?t want to get pedantic, but I will.

              Metroid Prime Hunters
              Tetris DS
              Brain Age
              Super Princess Peach

All of the above titles came out more than a year ago*and therefore shouldn?t have been on your list.

*In the USA. I presume these dates are acceptable as this is NTSC-UK

*shrugs* these dates were from NinDB, and even Metroid Prime: Hunters is only 13½ months old*. But the main point is that Nintendo has steadily released "serious" and "big budget" games for DS. And they have funded also very obscure, "hardcoreish" games even though there is no possible way that those projects could generate any profits (Children of Mana, Tenchu, Baten Kaitos: Origins). Not very logical moves from company that is (in your opinion) aiming only for casual market.

                * And other games you listed are only 13 months or less. EDIT: Hmh, Princess Peach was older than that, my mistake.

Oh do grow up. I'm obviously a fanboy because anyone who doesn't toe the party-line and agree to untrue statements has to be.

Yeah, I hate Sony, me. That's why I'm currently ploughing through Okami on the PS2 (which was the first machine I bought last gen).

Oh for goodness sake. Stop being such a martyr. Nobody's saying you can't have an opinon (for the billionth time), just that one gets their facts straight before they start spewing generalisations. Not a lot to ask really, is it.

Oh, and Starfox DS isn't "all DS games".

                  Anyway, carry on...
