And that's one of the things that's made me hesitant. I was also disappointed to learn that the backward's compatibility was also a con (i.e. you had to download and install patches to get old XBox games to work), which was a real shame to me as I never really dug the original XBox (the controller was too big for my hands), and I saw the 360 as an opportunity to catch up on all the XBox games I wanted to play but missed out on.

How on earth is automatically downloading emulation profiles a con?

The backcompat is pretty good now, only a few big games missing.

Come on, you know what he meant. It would have been nice if all games just worked. E.g. like the gameboy player for the GC. Or the PS2's PS1 ability.

It made him hesitant and it's only very recently after 2 years of release that the xbox games most of us on ntsc-uk are interested in have been BCd. My most important xbox game (RC2) still isn't on the radar. But I guess the time for hesitation is over (say he who just stopped hesitating) because most interesting games are sorted now.

Can't believe you missed the wii off your list CharlesR - the best back emulation to date.

I dunno, the Wii literally shuts down the Wii functions completely, so much so you even have to own a gamecube memory card to save your game. At least on the PS3/360 you can save the game to the hard drive!

I think the PS2 has offered the best with the PSone, it smoothed edges in games and made it look really nice and was quicker loading.

Also I could tranfer my 6 PSone memory Cards all to a PS2 card and transfer if and when I needed it. Lovely.
