The salaries of the top EA bods are listed here. Now its hardly rivetting stuff but start adding those figures up and you can see why publishers can't afford to drop the price of games....

Doesn't seem to be that much to me.

At least the EA executives are getting their job done properly. The games sell. The people in equivalent positions in places like Sega should be shot. They've got much better products on their hands but still manage to make them flop.

The EA CEO gets $1.7 million in total in 2003. Seems like a lot of money to me.

They are a major corporation. What major corporation in the world doesn't pay their Chief Exec's that much?

Compare it to what a lot of the UK Fat Cats are getting and it does actually seem quite low.

The salaries are not as high aas I'd expected, I'm willing to bet that they have to work a LOT of hours for this job though.

But compared to the far far far lower salaries of those at the sharp end (dev's, testers, artists, designers etc.) and the high insecurity in those jobs it does seem rather a lot.

Then again - I don't like fat cats in any corporation.

Screw up as a 'normal' employee - get fired, escorted off the building etc.

Screw up as a fat cat director - get a massive bonus and walk into your next position. Repeat ad infinitum.

                "I might be wrong"

Don't they have a rule in the US to stop CEOs being paid over a certain amount anyway? They get paid in "oher ways". I heard it was one of the reasons (but only one) for the corruption that is rife throughout the US boardrooms.

EA are Canadian, aren't they? What's US laws got to do with it?

If EA are canadian, thats news to me. But I was under the impression they were from the US. They definitely have Canadian teams. Maybe they ARE Canadian. I can't be arsed to check with EA though.
