There was a similar feature in their most recent issue, which appeared in the shops just as gamesTM 57 came back from the printers.

It's an unfortunate and unavoidable coincidence but then both articles are different enough for it not to be too much of an issue.

Both articles presumeably inspired by the announcement of new Nights for the Wii, no?

One of them certainly is. I can't speak for Edge.

I personally thought that Super Paper Mario wasn't a patch on the previous games. Bored me to tears.

Puzzle Quest, now that's more like it.

The Tomb Raider review doesn't directly compare it to God of War, but it does say that the action genre has moved on and the remake shows its age. Their main issues were a complete lack of signposting so you spend ages trying to figure out what you can climb and what you can't. Most concerning was the checkpoint system, which auto-saves before tough moments however if you miss a jump and fall down the level or to somewhere new, the save will still trigger. Read like a fair review.

Unless that game is Pro Evo.

Oh you said and thats always pissed me off.
Nice feature on SEGA, bar the fact that Sonic Team USA was set up 2000, and the likes of Yoshi Ishi, Naoto Ohshima, and the saint that is Manabu Kusunoki left to set Up Artoon in late 1999/2000 when SEGA was in its Hey day so to speak , they didn't leave when SEGA was in its 2003/4 rut so to speak
And forget NiGHTS , thats not the SEGA game most people will be talking about come Toyko Show day , There is another so to speak .

Great feature on Aladdin Oh and one last thing . The Master System version of Operation Wolf was the best

Does the feature give a date for Sonic Team USA's birth? I thought it just talked about the games that Iizuka worked on.

Yeah that's true enough. They shouldn't limit their leniency to one franchise.

Well to be fair its in the NiGHTS Journey into Dreams Preview. Sonic Team USA was more or less set up back in 2000 when working on trans Sonic Adv for the west , and Iizuka been there since the start and worked on every 3D Sonic game , not just Shadow like the preview made out . Sorry to be so annal , about it btw .

Hey no problems , I really enjoy doing them .
Quite like having a few drinks and taking a trip down memory lane , I still play Batman Returns and Sensi quite often , but I must say Cliffhanger is a beast of a game (3D parts) its rock and can't finish it at all. . I'll be putting up vids of Battle Corps ect soon too, and thats another rock hard , but stunning game .
Mega CD wasn't just Sonic and Final Fight which doubters love to make out , but a very nice machine with great software and quite powerfull for the time , Shame so little used the Hardware not least SEGA Japan

Also a pisser is that my PC Capture card is so cheap and VISTA messed up my old capture programs , So that means I have use cheap sh8t, which means the sound is somtimes out of synch .

                          Sorry to off topic btw

No worries. I didn't write the preview, just the feature. Guess I'm off the hook, for now.

I just read the Tomb Raider review and it read like the reviewer really felt that the original does not stand up at all today. That opinion is fair enough but some of this games best features such as the isolation, lack of hand holding and exploration of the enviroment were all criticised as negative points.

The games unwillingness to hold the players hand and stick neon lights saying "Go to this door now!" actually seems a new and refreshing idea. Which goes against the reviews opinion that the games design does not stand up to new releases.

Fair point. I thought much the same when I read the review, why is the need to explore an example of bad game design? It's supposed to be a game about investigating long-lost ruins and caves. You're bound to have sections where you're stumped. Percy Fawcett's adventures up the Amazon river weren't guided by handy little hand-holding clues detailing the next step forward. Personally I think the fact that some sections leave you befuddled really adds an authenticity to the tomb exploration premise. And surely that feeling of pioneering isolation and need for thorough exploration is what Tomb Raider should be about? God of War's remit is to deliver a heart-pounding, adrenaline-fuelled rollercoaster, which it does very well indeed, but Tomb Raider should have a very different atmosphere and experience altogether.
