Wish I could get a peep at this on Freeview. I'd be interested in watching some of the pro's techniques to pick up a few pointers.

It’s a new concept and will take time, the early invitationals are a taste of the structure but stars will emerge. This is the beginning of something new and like the games industry itself it'll need to prove it. But the team behind the channel is committed and knowledgeable about the genre so lets see how it develops over the coming months

watched a bit of this last night, it passed the 1st test in that it didn't make me cringe with embaressment on viewing, which much of game related tv output has in the past.

agree its early days and maybe it needs to be a little less serious and po-faced. they aren't cyber athletes, they are gamers (or nerds in common parlance).

will watch again but can't quite see it paying off, is the audience that large for this ?

I watched a Rainbow 6 match the other day and, as Chopemon says, the skill level wasn't remarkable at all. It was just like spectating in any random ranked match.

The PGR3 players I watched were very skilled, especially the leading pair. Some of you may have played the guy who finished second, carlcOOper, who's a member of the infamous VVV clan.

If I had to find fault with the station, it would be they don't have enough original content and subsequently frequently repeat their shows, and the video feed is so poor it makes everything look crappy and blurry, even gorgeous games like Gears of War.

The guys behind the channel are very dedicated and actually know about the subject they are covering, so I reckon they won't do that bad with this channel. As for the "random" people, I was invited down for the Pro Evo tourney they had and am not part of PES Rankings or anything.....so therefore am not "known" in the world of PES players but this gave me a chance to put myself on the map. I played against the best guys in the UK and did very well, knocked out one of the UK's best (Osman Idiris) and then gave the UK number one (Rob Mclean) a fright he will never forget. I think these invitationals are great ideas cos it can also bring to the fore unknown talent.

P.S - These guys complained about playing the 360 version.....I thought a good PES player could play on any console

I remember Osman Idris; very, very good player and a main player on the PES National League scene as well (when Konami used to run it!)

What you beat him by, man?

                PS2 version, ftw though!

I beat him 1-0, was an end to end game! Could have gone either way, watch it on the channel. They are showing it again on Saturday at 7pm.
Don't mind what console I play Pro Evo on to be honest, all the same to me.

It was Quake 4 last night. Now I'm no FPS expert but those guys really seemed to know what they were doing to me. The games moved at an insane speed.

The C&C match was a real eye opener for me as well. I had no idea that RTS games could go that fast.

I'm enjoying what they've showed so far and like people have said the presenters really seem to know thier stuff.

Having had this channel on and off the last few days, the biggest problem is repeats - I think it must have at most 18 hours of programming atm.

This channel is a good idea, but it needs some better presenters and pundits, as the lot on there at the moment are pretty dire. They don't seem to know what they are on about and frequently make mistakes.
The games on 'The Match' also seem to be of a poor choice at the moment in that first person shooters are not ideal to watch. They change from player to player and it all becomes a bit confusing. I'd like to see some more one on one beat 'em ups and maybe some challenges on older games. The pro evo may be a better watch, but the gears and halo 2 ones last night made for pretty dull viewing.

Best thing about this channel is the promo stuff, where they show you a bunch of sexy/cool/self-confident `gamers` (i.e., actors) mugging and vogueing into camera with their gaming stats and preferences, etc. - so that`s what online gamers look like, eh?!

The main presented is a cock. Get Diamond in.
