Cooperative Multiplayer Racers

I've recently remembered, how much fun I had playing through Super Mario Kart, and Diddy Kong Racing together with a mate.

So, I'm searching for racing games, that let you play together with other people against a field of computer controlled competitors, battling it out in a series of races (championchip).

So, are there any besides the Mario Kart series and Diddy Kong Racing?

The only thing that immediately springs to mind is Extreme G racing for the PS2. Not a bad game at all and I really enjoyed playing in the same team as my brother. The downside is that the difficulty has a tendency to ramp up something silly once you get to the higher level races and obtaining 1st and 2nd place becomes something short of a miracle. Good fun though, especially seeing as the price money is shared, so the weapons and upgrades you make to your bikes involve some tactical planning.

There were two Extreme G games for the PS2, get the first as the second was a bit average.

Ah yes, Extreme G, forgot about that one, played it on the N64 back then.. though I always thought that F-Zero was way better.

I'm also recalling that Lotus 2 on the good old Amiga had a Splitscreen Coop mode.

Rumble Racing on PS2, never heard anything about it on the net at all but was one of my first PS2 games and loved it coop.

Street Racer on SNES/MD. I had it on Saturn, too, but I never tried the multiplayer out on that.

Not a fantastic game, though, but technically good.

a great game.Pulling off stunts to increase your speed was awesome.shame EA never continued with this franchise.
