Buying from other regions? (50hz PAL whinge)

Does anyone know if it's possible to buy US or Japanese virtual console titles if you have PAL UK Wii?

I'm guessing the answer is no but there are plenty of games (mostly japanese versions) that I'd like and also I refuse to buy the crippled 50hz PAL versions.

It's a nonsense that european consoles are not 60hz by default like the import versions. Practically every TV bought in the last 20 years will be able to display a 60hz NTSC picture. Hell even back in the days of the early days of the SNES any TV under 10 years old would probably have been able to display a 60hz picture.

it's even more bizarre when you think that your average Wii will be sitting a fairly decent TV in the living room rather than the 20 year old 14 inch bedroom TV.

I'm both confused and angry we still have to put up with this nonsense

and while I'm at it why aren't things region free either???

The VC store is locked to your console's region I'm afraid so it's not possible to buy US or JP VC software from a PAL console or vice versa.

Dunno why in this day and age Nintendo aren't releasing PAL VC games in 60Hz. Maybe they believe the majority of European customers want to play exact replicas of the original European software which, of course, was all 50Hz.

It is, and that is why I was determined to pick one up when I was in the states earlier this year.

I never had an import snes/n64 back in the day so it is kind of nice having access to the full screen / full speed versions of my favourite games now.
