I don't really care if its only for WRC and Nascar. It seems the car damage there is, is really detailed. Better than half assed damage on the complete list.
What did surprise me is how good GT5 looks. Much better than Prologue it seems. And Kaz said that its release won't be far from GT PSP.

It could be that the WRC cars are the only ones that are ready to be show off at present, but maybe the WRC could be the only class of cars that can be inflicted with damage.
Well done Flabio for guessing though!
Despite that I never guessed that damage would be in Gran Turismo 5 and even with the possible restriction on car class damage, it still looks very impressive and fairly full featured.
With the PS3 Slimline and a small price drop, GT5 will be the game that makes me swing for a PS3 again.

I'm loving how it looks in the new videos and I really can't wait for the game now. I'll probably be getting Forza 3 to tide me over but I'm looking forward to this a lot more.
I can't help but feel that now they have both NASCAR & the WRC in the game that Sony may regret not holding onto the exclusive F1 license even though it was never really a money earner for them.

It's difficult to find an exact translation at the moment but this is another version of what was said which also includes further clarification from Yamauchi
Originally posted by KomboWhile Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3 was playable at the ongoing Gamescom event on Cologne, Germany, enticing details on the game showed up and quickly disappeared from the Japanese official Gran Turismo site. Those details were quickly translated into English and some but not all were later confirmed to IGN by director Kazunori Yamauchi.
Yamauchi confirmed that car damage would be in Gran Turismo 5 but only for some of the 1,000 cars that the game is speculated to have. There is no word on which car models will have damage, but the selection is likely due to licensing agreements with car manufacturers.
Those selected could be the 170 premium cars mentioned on the Gran Turismo website that will have full interior modeling unique to each car. The site said that even damage will be modeled in the interiors of these cars.
This sort of makes sense as I seem to remember him saying that it took his team about a month to model each one and although it would be nice to have all 1000 modelled correctly, I'm more than willing to let it go so that I'm not waiting another 5 years to play the bloody game.
If that what I'm saying is true then I suppose there's always the option to download the true interiors in the future. He's already said that this is the only full GT that the PS3 will get and that instead of following it up as standard, he will expand the GT universe with download packs.
He's mentioned previously that he wanted GT to incorporate every kind of motor racing so depending on the direction that he wants to take it, we could even end up with superbikes in it.

God damn it, I'm of the view that unless your a serious racing nut then (especially with the close release dates) you just can't do both Forza and GT. The problem then is choosing between them, I've always gone for GT and each new info release is appealing to me but on the flip side I'm at the point with the series that if the car handling is the same as it always has been up to GT5Pro then I might have to stick with Forza this time.

Also I did notice how good it looked, it looks a lot more improved and complete than Prologue.
Finally, I am hoping for no installs for GT5. The Prologue installs killed space on my HDD and when it updated......

I've read mutterings on forums etc that 4th December is looking the likely release date for the PS3 GT. Sounds pretty feasable. Sony need it out by Christmas, it'd be the only release in December thats a major one and it keeps it clear of Sony's other games like Motorstorm: Arctic Edge, Jak & Daxter 4 and Uncharted 2. But it'ld give Forza a 2 month lead :/

Forza is on a different system, which shouldn't matter. Maybe they are bored with Forza 3 by december, and convert to GT
GT5's 4th of December date is highly likely. A leaked calendar listed it for December 5th, that calendar was right concerning the dates of Killzone and Resistance 2 platinum.
It also seems that we are getting GT PSP on the same day as Japan. That gives me hope for a worldwide GT5 release, it will probably make this December. Spring 2010 would be dumb and fall 2010 too late.
Santa needs to have Ps3 Slims, and copies of GT5.
