The GBA screen still has a ****e resolution though, effectively halved for a decent framebuffer which'll kill the majority of "3D" games - 3D in casual reference terms, like textures, fancy "fx" and bollocks like that. Don't see the point, something like Starfox is capable of running on the GBA hardware with little effort and then there are always things like the Sentinel-level of graphics, Elite and things.

But, like I say, casual will not accept it unless some decent "specs" are flung about, thus making it a comparable (?) product in the same league as the (vapourware... ahem) PSP when there is no such thing.

I'm torn. I don't think that specs are the be all and end all. I mean, loads of people were convinced that the XB was the best Next Gen console because it was the most powerful. And those boards in dixons saying the XB can push 120 million ploygons and the GC only 12 million convinced them. Everyone said that they'd buy one. But come last christmas, before all the price drops they were struggling in 3rd place.

Now, the GB series has sold much more than any other hand held... and I really think that counts for a lot. But if you walk in the store and see two (reasonably) similarly prices consoles, but one that does much more than the other - you'd take the one with more options (were you joe average!)

In conclusion: If the price is right, and the specs are there, the PSP will wipe the floor - Gameboy or not!

Odd thing though innit, PS2 is the most expensive and "least powerful"... dontcha just love that kind of backwards logic?

PSP (well, as far as rumours go) is outside the price bracket for GB anyway - isn't it rumoured to be 150-199, ? $ ? or whatever? That's damn scary, multitude of options or not, its in a totally seperate market. The comparisons only exist in Mr. Casual's head

If Nintendo wish to succeed in the video gaming business then they have to do everything in their power to make sure the next gen gameboy sees off all its competitors. The GBA is Nintendos biggest profit maker so anything denting its market share will be a serious blow to them.

I think over the next 5 years its make or break time for Nintendo. Either they perform or they are finished.

          Word.
