The Xbox 360 Elite PAL Pre-order Thread

I'm hoping we get a load of the black accessories in, I'll be after some of those. I did like reading the sign up we have about reasons to pre-order one, about how limited it is and about its 3 powerful core processors.

Anyone buying any 360, elite or not is performing an act of lunacy at the moment. Christ, microsoft has even told us the console is borked out of the box.
Better to wait for the re-design , I say.

They've redone the internals now on newly shipping units. It's not a proper revision as it's not the .65nm stuff or anything, but they should be more reliable.

I'm half tempted to pre order an elite, I'm really struggling to justify the price tag when I already have a premium though. Main reason I want Elite is because it's black and so will match my Bravia so much better.

If Takahashi is right though, and he always is with XBox stuff, then then 65nm revision codename 'Falcon' isn't too far away. I can certainly see the logic in waiting for that unless you want the console right now.

Im confused, is the black elite going to be ltd edition only to be replaced with white elites later. Also are all elites going to be bundled with a cable to allow you to transfer all your old info over to your new 120gb Hdd?

Isn't it just the standalone 120GB HDD that comes with that transfer cable?

Half tempted to order one as I suffer the same problem as Smegaman, though I'd want to trade my old premium in for it and I don't particularly fancy losing all of my downloads n stuff. Do you think any shop would be OK transferring my data across for me?

Re: transfer cable. Originally they didn't but I believe that the Elites come with them now too.

No, the black elite is its own version to be sold with the other 2.

No, you're incorrect. The black Elite SKU is only being manufactured in limited numbers while they sell off their remaining premium SKUs. It will then be manufactured in white and become the premium SKU itself.

When is the 65nm actually coming into play? There hasnt been any talk about it for a while as far as I can see and with Microsoft refusing to talk much about hardware revisions when will we know when we can pick up a 65nm machine?

Randicoot - I could be wrong, but from what I understood of the talk around the elite, it is to be sold in conjunction with the other two SKU's and will always be for sale along with the other two, despite early reports of limited edition avaliblity.

well this is another reason i thought i might as well just get the elite.
when the 65nm does actually arrive how will you know if the machine your buying has it? with all this channel stuffing malarky, how do you know if the normal white machine you buy today is reasonably old or just off the line with the newest (slight) revisions?
(genuine question if anybody knows)

i'm making the assumption that if i buy a black elite it will at least have been manufactured recently and have the slightly better cooling and whatever else they do now.

i'm still very sceptical of the whole 360 thing now, but thats my reasoning (to myself) for why i'll get one in a month.
