Why is Elite Beat Agents selling so poorly?

The store I work in is one of the busier GAMEs in our region and yet I don't think I've seen a single person buying it. Have Nintendo Europe made any effort in marketing it?, I haven't seen a single ad for it on TV since it was released. After Reggie talked about how he was dissapointed with the US sales you'd think they'd make some effort with regards to making it a success in Europe.

Obviously we're used to seeing great titles not selling to the masses but in the case of EBA it's quite clearly a game that would appeal to both the casual & the dedicated. Thank God Ouendan 2 sold far more copies in Japan than the 1st one did, I'd hate it if Inis didn't continue the series due to poor sales.

I've seen loads of adverts for it, but none of them really showed anything of the game at all if I remember rightly.

Decent games not getting recognised by the massmarket shocker. :/

BECAUSE IT HAS ENGLISH SONGS INSTEAD OF JAPANESE ONES!!!!111 [/idiot]

This news disappoints me greatly. You're in the perfect position though, just start forcing people to buy it! Don't let anyone leave the shop without a copy

I've also seen adverts on TV for it, and it struck me that it was quite impressive a game like this was getting mainstream advertising at all. Seems a very strange choice of game to push, even with the localisation.

Think about what you just said.

If NOA fails at something do you really expect Nintendo Europe to manage it?

Still, I suppose if it was to find mainstream recognition, there'd be a slew of "OMFG!! Nintendo hates teh hardcore!!11!!11" posts.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I've not seen any advertising for it...

Much that the US version didn't sell all that well (for reasons I assume people just didn't like the songlist, silly, I quite enjoyed it), I expect a lot of people over here just imported the US version anyhow, hence why it probably isn't selling here either now.
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

I bought it purely because my fiancé liked the advert.

I personally had a long-held hunch that EBA would struggle to sell officially over here. I put it down to reasons such as the LONG delay in release (postponed a few times, I believe) and the fact that most DS owners over here would have long since imported it.

That said, I remain steadfast - EBA is every bit as good as Ouendan 1, imo. In fact, EBA's artwork is probably superior to Ouendan 1's.

And, whether die-hard Ouendan fans want to acknowledge it or not, large elements of Ouendan 2's story-line, in-game mechanics/nuances and engine have been heavily influenced by EBA (even though Ouendan 2 is admittedly superior).

Because everybody already imported it months ago.

My biggest issue with buying DS games is that they are priced just a bit too highly. £30 as opposed to $15 I could pay when in the US puts me off. If I was going to accept that in the UK I would get ripped off, then £25 would be a fairish price.

Price is a good point tho that effects all DS games not just this. Price is becoming an issue, im sure Flash Cart usage is on the increase. When i first had a GBA and got a flash cart years ago nobody had a clue what the hell they were, but now i know more and more people that have them for the DS. I mean all you have to do is search the sales forum here and see how many have been sold recently, they are certainly much easier to get hold of now with many many more websites selling them.

Wow what an off topic rant sorry.

As far as EBA goes you'd have thought it would have sold well looking at the kind of games that have been popular recently, Guitar Heroes for example. EBA is a perfect music game, i think the problem is that it just hasnt been well marketed or advertised. For example the advert does very little to explain to people how the game actually works and plays.

Well, at least my other half and I both contributed to 2 of the UK's sales.

It's indeed a shame it's sold so poorly, it's a stunning little game.
