This will continue for some time - I dunno how long bona-fide PS3 dev kits have been out & about but it's clear already that devs are struggling to get ths ps3 to output the stuff 360 is doing.

UE3 is the current poster boy for this but I reckon the rabbit-hole runs a bit deeper behind the scenes.

I'm sure eventually we'll see stuff playing to the strengths of CELL but it looks like xbox/ps2 all over again (xbox very easy/comfortable/familiar for devs, ps2 pandoras box) only this time ps2 didn't come first and force devs to squeeze the most from it and take the time to learn its intricacies.

Sony REALLY need the firstparty devs to deliver - I've no doubt GTAIV is being held back due to the ps3 version (which nobody has seen), same with pro evo people have seen & criticised the 360 "port" for slowdown but the ps3 version is yet to even be seen running.

As somebody who only just bought one it's not great but I never expected it to be - At least anybody who bought a ps3 and hasn't had access to 360 for it's lifetime has a few crackers coming out straight away thanks to porting (GRAW2/R6V/FN03/Oblivion) even if they're proving to be (in general) slightly poorer.

It will be interesting to see how a PS3 port TO THE Xbox 360 will look. VF5 not being a good example because that's an arcade port.

I think you are bang on the money there Yoshi.

As for the blue vase... well I am forced to live in a grown up home these days, but I am looking to build a games room so that I can get back to my roots!

We have a nice wife friendly lounge, but I am going to convert the study into a play room/games room as a project this autumn.

From what I've read, it's supposed to be easier to re-optimise code on fewer cores than it is the other way around.

Can a dev on here confirm that?

That is such a bargain for 17 quid.

The game is a constant rush and has the best visuals of the machine IMHO. (Soon to be beaten by the upcoming 3rd gen games I guess)
