my question... Mario 64 or Banjo-Kazooie?

just wanting to get your opinions as to which game you believe is the better of the two

i've played and compleated both games to there fullest and i'd have to say that although mario 64 was brill from start to finish it was banjo-kazooie that i kept coming back to over and over again. i also believe that it was better graphically, better audio and had better gameplay elements too.

    your thoughts?

Super Mario 64, by a whole 3,00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 miles.

The level design, atmosphere, control, use of control within environment, imagination, the variation in tasks, the camera... All better. And then some.

Well, actuallly, more than some. In my opinion of course.

Yeah Mario for me as while. I loved Banjo but towards the end it started to irritate slightly. Plus the underwater levels were more frustarting ft:
      Never played banjo tooie though.

Mario 64 for me too. It probably has a lot to do with the fact it was the first game to really explore 3D platforming and it did it so well. The level design, controls, characters, graphics and challenges are still great today. B&K is good, but I found it to be nothing special. This could be because I didnt play it until some years after it was released though.

i think that banjo took what mario was and turned it into something better, but hey, thats my opinion

mario was great gameplay wise but grapically banjo was in another league, it was also a more complex game which i believe actually had better ideas, puzzles & challanges

I never finished either, never really got into a 3d platformer, but i did enjoy banjo more than i did mario 64

I though Banjoo was a lot harder than sm64. Esp to totally complete it.
That medicine man was funny as well. It just wasn't as smooth an experince as the might mario. And as cookie says the first 3d platform game as well.

Don't knbow about that mate, I always prefered the 2D platformers. For me Super Mario World is the king of all platform games
But i would say they are among the best 3D ones.

                    i meant 3D platformers

even i think mario 3 and super mario world are the best - but thats 2D

I prefer Mario. Banjo was great but the camera really bugged me ft: Everything else is fine, I just prefer Mario

The music in Banjo is fantastic though, IMO it's the best-sounding N64 game I've played.

Mario 64 by a country mile & a little bit more - beautifully designed, beautiful to play. It kept me up night after night - just to get that 'one more star'

I would probably say they are as good as each other and both have there strong points. Mario for me has the better level design even though banjo has it`s moments, but audio and graphically banjo is superior and loved the fade in and out of audio when you went into another area. Also banjo had the nice coop of using kazooie as well to get certain notes. Also what kept me going in banjo was trying to find away to get those easter eggs which were shown at the end and heard there was actually away to get to them as well after i sold it

Banjo is a reasonable 3D platformer, but it doesn't have nowhere near the replay potential of Mario64.

I would say Mario 64 because the levels are a lot more fun and you don't get distracted collecting to many things (Rare reached their peak of amount of things to collect per level in DK64, theres like a million things to collect,). However BK is a very good game besting mario in a few areas, firstly the music is great and the voices are hilarious, secondly it is funnier, and thirdly Grunty's Quiz which could (should?) have been a game on its own. But the levels did get irritating especially Rusty Bucket Bay and that stupid jigsaw between the propellers. ft: and the camera was terrible.

Still I'd have to agree with the few people who said they were the 2 best 3d platformers yet and both are better then Mario Sunshine.
