Are you guys actually playing the VC games you buy?

I've been bailing through Super Metroid and loving it and I just realised, aside from the odd bout of Wave Race, I really haven't played the VC games I've bought. I load them up for all of two minutes, the nostalgia wears off and that's the end of it.

I'm still glad I have them and do hope I will play them but, so far, Metroid seems to be the only one to last beyond the nostalgia.

Are you actually playing through the VC games you've bought?

I stopped buying them because I actually realised I wasn't. I'd have a quick blast for the nostalgia before firing up a new game.

I tend to play the majority of my VC games to completion and a few - notably the F-Zero's, Mario Kart, Waverace 64 and Zelda 64 (fishing) - I continue to play regularly. Indeed of the dozen titles I've downloaded, I only regret buying Donkey Kong Country.

I've only brought one, Paper Mario N64 whilst still completing the GC one. Having stopped playing the GC one for some reason I've never got around to the VC game. What makes matters worse is I actually own the N64 original aswell.

Yup, but I'm only buying N64 games, so my collection is small.

All of them, but especially Altered Beast, Golden Axe and Wave Race.

I find myself buying them because either for nostalgia's sake (F-zero/Mario Kart 64/StarFox) or buying them because I never got around to playing them (Paper Mario)

Either way, all I ever do is buy them, have a look at them for 5 minutes, then turn them off. I need to stop doing it, it is a waste of money and I know I have no intention of playing them, why would I when there are so many new games coming out all the time? Not only that, but why would I want to play them on a controller none of them were designed for.

Ive bought alot and completed most of them, gunstar heroes several times infact.

and Ive probabaly spent more time playing Mario 64 than i did when i originaly owned the cart.

The only games I do regret buying are the turbo graphix games as most of them are really quite poor imo. I'm a massive shmup fan and heard that the ones for it were suppose to be good, but they are all mared by either poor mechanics (the strange weapon system in solider blade) or are just boringly designed (nearly every other one)

I've either finished, or put a lot of time into most of my purchases. I do wish I hadn't picked up a few of them based on hype though, but I have enjoyed most of them. I'm now wanting to finish off a couple more before I pick up anything else.

                  • Ristar: Finished
                  • Gunstar Heroes: Finished
Super Mario 64: About 30-50% through, got bored of it.
                  • Sonic: Finished
                  • Super Star Soldier: Haven't finished as I refuse to use continues, but I've spent a lot of time with it.
The Legend of Zelda: Was a mistake buying this. I don't hold any nostalgia towards it, and it just isn't fun these days.
                  • Super Castlevania IV: Finished
                  • R-Type: Finished
                  • Soldier Blade: Same as Super Star Soldier
                  • R-Type III: Finished
Zelda: Link to the Past: About 50% through - need to get back to it.
                  • Super Mario World: Finished
Donkey Kong Country: About 50% through.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time: Just can't get into it.
Starfox 64: Couldn't get into it either. (I didn't have an N64 so these games are all new to me)
                  • Blazing Lazers: Same as SSS
                  • Sonic 2: Finished
                  • Actraiser: Finished
                  • Super Metroid: Finished

Hell, I've probably spent more time with VC titles this year than full-price games on all three platforms combined.

Yeah, more or less. Having never owned/played a PCE, I'm loving all the shmups which I revisit every so often. I was a PSX/Saturn guy back in the day and came to the N64 scene late so I'm buying stuff like Mario Kart 64 and Paper Mario because I've either never played them or they're worth playing over and over.

As for the rest, I usually always give in and buy the big titles even though I own most of them several times on different formats. Guess I'm just one of those people that Nintendo love as I'm a sucker for retro!

I am playing the ones I download but I've been very selective about what I buy, so I don't actually have that many. If you don't apply the same level of judgement you would buying a retail title and just end up going "hey, that game rocked!" you'll download a lot of stuff you'll never play enough to get your moneys-worth.

I've played a hell of a lot of Super Mario Bros., which remains to this day a timeless classic and a hell of a lot of fun even when you've been playing it near constantly for 20 years.

I've also enjoyed having the option of downloading titles that would be impractical or too expensive to get in their original format - stuff like Devil Crash for the PCE, and a couple of games which I couldn't play in 60hz otherwise like Comix Zone for the MD and Super-C for the NES.

Don't touch mine as I haven't got a classic controller and can't be arsed to connect the wavebirds

Super Mario 64 - Got about 30 or so stars and has had quite a few hours on this. Absolutely essential purchase for me and love been able to play it with analog controls again.
MarioKart 64 - Completed single player.
Bonk - Couple of hours on this.
Super Mario World - Hardly touched.
                            Lylat Wars - Hardly touched.
Waverace 64 - Couple of hours on this.

So certainly on or two games I haven't really played enough. That said I expect to go back to play all or most of these at some point. This year I've hardly been off the Xbox 360.

                              Same here generally.

I was never really an N64 guy back in the day. We had one, but only for Goldeneye... 100% Saturn back then, with a bit of PS, so there's plenty of N64 titles I've never even played.

I'm playing Mario64 right now... I've actually played very little Mario64, believe it or not! Not sure what to say about it yet, I'm seeing a great game here, but not the best thing ever or anything, and the controls don't feel particularly tight, at least for me on the Classic Controller. Maybe you just had to be there at the time.
