Mandatory Dash Update Borked my 360!!!!

If you have access to a friend's 360, I would hook the drive up to his machine and clear the cache with it. Hopefully that'll sort things.

I would also try disconnecting everything from the machine that's not required. (ethernet/wifi, anything via USB etc)

I tried my HDD on my housemates console. Same proplem. Freezes at 360 logo and doesnt boot to dash.

Update worked fine on mine, although the pause at the xbox logo after the reboot seems to be getting longer with every update. I'm sure they are just doing it to freak us out !

Is the HDD attached by USB ? If it is can you plug it in after the 360 has booted, alla a pc USB HDD ? Could then maybe boot to dash, plug it in and then clear the cache

All else fails buy a new HD, take old one back to shop for refund saying it is faulty (use a retailer like Argos who won't know what you are talking about) and hey presto all is well.

The console resets if you connect/disconnect the HDD.

can't believe it, may be conincidence but following the update this weekend i get freeze ups all the time and now the dreaded red ring of death most of the time when i switch on, in Halo 3 week as well.

it stayed on long enough to clear the cache but now won't boot at all, power supply is green lit.

MS say its not the hard disk and needs a back to base for 25 working days to repair.

very tempted to go out, get an elite and swap the hard disks over.
