Game Focus are now starting their weekly tournaments from 2nd August 2003 and will repeat every week for two months.
The following games will be played on the following dates:
Venue is at the basement of Game Focus, air con will be available and there will be more room for players as the games have been reduced to 4.
Entry is still ?3 per day. Bring your own sticks, controllers and convertors. They are available to buy at Game Focus. 3rd Party PS2s are for hire at ?1 (you'll get it back when u return pad).
Rules will be up on the Game Focus website. Here's just a snippet:
Main goal is to win matches. Each match is recorded with the number of rounds noted down. 3 points for a win. 0 points for a lost. There is a win-streak cap of 10 matches. Players must have a "match card" in order to compete. Matches will not be marked if a player has not registered with a "match card". Players will need to bring their laminated Game Focus membership card. Those with no membership card will need to join up. There is no bonus points feature in this league tournament.
At the end of September, we will calculate the final tables and offer a ?50 Game Focus voucher to spend in the store to the player in 1st place on each game. Runner-up prizes may follow for 2nd and 3rd place players if 50 or more ppl turn up every day. Basically, the more players we get into the venue every week, the more chance more players will receive prizes.
