Does Anyone know anything about Gamestation?

Put this here to try and get it noticed.

I've got an interview there tomorrow and would like to know anything about their history and how they became 'Gamestation' The official site is pretty much useless and searching on the net is providing me no results.
Any idea guys?

It was started in York by two students from York College, i used to go to the very first tiny store in Gillygate back in the days when you could still haggle over trade in prices and stuff.

I wont go into it here, needless to say the manager who took over was at Game previously and put much of her efforts into her 'mates' who also worked there who she got jobs for (one of which was stealing anyways).

I had my hours cut as a result and 2 of my mates got forced out also.

No reflection on the company as a whole obviously...

Probably too late now but what position are you going for?! The interview process is pretty relaxed at Gamestation from what I remember.

I remember when they started off in Leeds, on that narrow-as-fook corner, and I traded in Toughman Contest on MD for Illusion Of Time and Super Punch-Out on SNES. I know something probably went wrong at the till or something but I never said anything (it was when that guy with the ponytail and that youthful-looking southern guy with the blond hair used to run ting, and it was a great time.)

It used to be a right gamery shop but now it's an arse. Bloody PAL Secret Of Mana with toilet paper tatty cover at £59.99?????? Jap Chrono Trigger at similar price??? Fucqkin madness.

When I first started seeing them they were pleasently dingy so you felt satisfied having a dig around and coming out with a bargain. I was so excited when I was living in Preston and a new one was opening... it was as bright as the sun inside, clean, grey and playing ridiculously loud dance music It did improve after that though but never got that dark basement feel.

I was just about to say the same, they have one in Poole, Bournemouth and Weymouth which is every store within 30 miles of me

Maybe they just printed out the cover and stuck it to an empty box, to show how hardcore they are. Everybody goes "ooo secret of mana" but nobody really wants to buy it do they never get found out

Quick update: They have two Secret Of Manas in Leeds at the moment, both as battered as Leslie Ash. And the Jap Chrono Trigger (with tatty cover) is actually £69.99(!)

And if I'm not mistaken I saw a PS1 Namco Museum Vol. 5 (cover seemingly mauled by terriers) for £24.99.

The staff must know about this sh1t and be powerless, right???

How did it go? Did they share their Secret of Mana mass ownage plans with you?

I've considered having a go for game shops before but I'm afraid of having to watch people make the same uninformed purchases again and again. There's only so many Need for Speed's you can handle scanning in one day!
