I'm probably the only person who's going to have to pay for Karkand. Baught the LE for PS3 but have since recieved a copy of the standard edition for PC and it is much more awesome.

Their own versions of cod Elite? Could happen going by recent comments.

More maps would be appreciated. I could also use a patch to give me More Free Time to play the game.

Trying to polish off the single player before jumping into multiplayer, but damn if it is not one heck of a soulless grind. You just know they put it in there so they could charge full price. I can barely get through 20 mins play without turning it off. It just all feels so generic.

DICE has announced three new expansion packs, the first of which arrives in June as a timed PS3 exclusive and includes 4 maps. There's also going to be a console based 'rent a server' scheme implemented.

Looking forward to more maps and vehicles for this. I'll happily pay top dollar.

Rent a server is pretty damn big news!

They have named the themed DLC's, which isn't a bad idea having a specific theme for each of your DLC's so if you like your Close Quarters combat you can go straight in with tight maps and no tanks, copters blowing you apart.

Close Quarters is up first (June-PS3) which will focus on infantry only gameplay with enclosed maps, designed to make full use of the destructible environments with new interior destruction called "HD Destruction"

Armoured Kill (Autumn) follows and will be vehicular combat with new tanks, ATV's, mobile artillery and will include (aparently) the BIGGEST map in BF history.

The third and final DLC is called 'End Game' and will be shown closer to the time of release.

                    Rent-A-Server has my interest piqued.

What happened to the days of console games having a "dedicated" option so you could host a password protected server on a separate machine? I used to love that. Sounds like this might be a good alternative provided it's priced correctly.

Aren't the games at the moment on servers? Can't say I have any complaints about BF3 so far. Only game lately that hasn't got any connection problems for me. Gears of war 3 is inconsistant as hell while apparently being on servers, and call of duty, just don't get me started on that lag compensation sh*t. I'd gladly pay for them on gears...but for BF3 I see no reason to, the games are already pretty much perfect.

You rent a server so you can control it, choose the maps, boot people , invite only etc

And choose the rules. You'll see options on the server list right now, but there's no way to modify them.

Exactly... so you can govern access, rules, map rotation and so on...

Anyone know how much it costs to do this currently for the PC version? Surely they wouldnt charge people more for renting a console specific server? (cough...).

I've got to give them props for giving BF3 proper support, I absolutely detested the approaches taken with BF:BC1 & 2 but this is reasonably timed out and a very healthy amount of content. Once the move is out the way and I'm back online I might dip back into BF3 and try it out again as having not bothered with Karkand that's potentially 16 maps to try out (!)

I cant wait for BF4 (so all the ****s with unlimited free time **** off to that) so I can actually start enjoying this more.

In the meantime, I think BF:BC2 is going to get played more.
