Hellgate London - Demo This Week

Cannot believe there isnt a thread for Hellgate London yet. For anyone that doesnt know its a new hack n slash n shoot, 1st person, 3rd person or top down RPG with single player and MMO modes.

The thing thats most intresting about it for many people is that its made by Flagship Studios which is a company made up of the Blizzard talent that created Diablo 2 most noticeably Bill Roper, so many consider it to be the spiritual successor of D2.

D2 still being one of the largest most popular online communities means there is a huge weight of expectation on HGL, mainly due to geeky action RPG fans like me lol.

Anyway i guess thats enough of my rant, the actual news is that the game has gone gold and the single player demo will be released on Friday.

Awesome, been sort of following this since it was announced. Have high hopes for it, considering the talent behind it.

saw vids of this love you can use first and third person perspectives in game suppose third person would be best for close up weapons and first person better for guns.

but for these games i love collecting items and leveling up

What type of game is this? You mentioned MMO aspects in post 1... I'm now intrigued.

Well you can play it fully offline and then there is normal free online play. The free mode allows you to store 3 characters online to play with. Then you have elite members who pay a monthly subscription, for this they get 15 character slots, guild functions, elite equipement and supposedly a few other features.

Also worth saying that all users get to play online together if they subscribe or not.

The type of game is an Action RPG but with nice shiny graphics, think Diablo 2 and Titans Quest but an futuristic urban horror setting.

Edit. Just had a quick google, turns out a lot of new content like weapons, actual game areas, auction houses and extra community features are going to be for Elite memebrs only.

Nope just single player. Unfortunatly Europe was left out of the pre-order online beta offer they had in the US.

sounds a bit of a cop-out. Guild wars managed to fund the hosting costs via the expansion packs, and the price of the subscription is more in line with that of a full on mmo which this isn't. But it would be good if Bill Roper could give WoW a run for it's money, after all, he didn't leave Blizzard of his own free will (if you know what happened).

Any first impressions yet? tempted to download but the file size is a little off putting.
