Giving thanks, and the weird little things you do in games

When my girlfriend Plays Ocarina of Time, she must thank Epona. If she ever relies on Epona to get Link around anywhere, then after dismounting she always makes Link bow (which is essentially just using the shield/crouching, it's as close as you get!) to Epona before she carries on.

Does anyone else have weird little customs in games to make themselves happy?

i dunno why but everytime i pick up a snes pad i have to do the Street Fighter 2 - Capcom logo cheat to get the extra costumes.

I think i do it just so i know i still got the touch. OH YEAH BABY............

I done excatly the same thing when I was playing through Shadow of the Collossous for the first time. After galloping around for miles, just before I got off, I gave Agro a little pat to thank him!

Nothing else springs to mind. I nearly said sorry to the Companion Cube though as I was about to let it go...

I used to count down from 10 when I was running through pre-rendered scenes in Final Fantasy VII to see if I could get out of the area in that time, as if a bomb was about to go off.

In tennis games I always move my player quickly left and right when returning serve, to pay tribute to the Zina Garrison wiggle

I have also thanked Agro many a time.

In HALO I used to try and go out of my way to keep the marines alive, like I was babysitting or some joke. Couldn't drive a Warthog or Scorpion without picking up as many bodies as possible. A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm.

I do that thing with the marines in every game with friendly NPCs! NEVER LEAVE A MAN BEHIND!!1

Another odd thing I think is amusing is people humping downed opponents in Gears of War. It's scary to think someone actually sat down one day and said "Hey, let's wiggle our left sticks back and forth so it looks like we're humping the enemy!"

When I was playing Halo 2 this very day I was doing that. I kept retrying Outskirts until I got most of my marines through unscathed. Who died and made you coroner!

whenever i'm playing a driving game and the camera does a fly-by of the car i always move the pad left and right just to see the wheels turning.

also, as i mentioned in the Phantom Hourglass thread - i'll fill in all the holes i have dug even though i know it will reset whenever i revisit the island. it's common courtesy, it's the least i can do after turning over someone's garden looking for cash.

i also tidy up in Half Life 2, using the Gravity Gun to rearrange the crates etc. the flip side of that is the indestructible NPC's - they get everything thrown at them - tyres, boxes whatever isn't nailed down.

On the original GTA I used to try and be a model citizen. I'd try and obey the law when driving, by stopping at red lights and not speeding. It sounds dull, and it was, but in short spells it was stupidly amusing.

I did the same again (to a lesser extent) in GTA3, but the controls were easier, so no joy. Did often tail cars randomly, JUST TO SEE WHERE THEY GO.

I have more quirks, I know I do.

I always try to fire off one build up shot at the start off a level in any horizontal shooters. Must be a bit of R-Type muscle memory as I don't suffer from that affliction is vertical shooters.

when there's a quiet moment in Biohazard i make my character dance - because they spin on the spot i can make them do a wee shuffle as if they are dancing to Electro.

Haha, great thread! I especially like the first post. Similar to the person who said about moving Koopa's head in SMK (I used to do the same..), in PGR3, before the race when the camera shows the different parts of the car, I always have to turn the wheel and flash the brake lights; can't believe you can't do it in PGR4

Also (sorry, this one's a bit strange), in Pokémon, I feel really bad if I don't go home often enough to visit my Mum in the game, so I try and go back to the house when I save and let her know that I'm doing great.
