MS Passport / Live association

Not really Live related, but thought this might be the best forum to post in... I've got 2 MS passport / Windows Live IDs, one old one I want to get rid of and one current one.

My Live Gamertag associated with my old one and despite clicking about on the passport site and the live site, I can't find a way to change my Live account so it's associated with my new passport account.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I *Think* you have to ring microsoft to do it. Not too sure though.

Yeah, did the very same on friday. You need to go through to the live accounts dept - the number is on the UK website...

Weightgain, just called them and they tell me it's not possible. Apparently once it's associated with a Live ID, it's tied to it forever.

The only thing I can do is create a new gamertag and associate that with my new Live ID!

Did you definitely change your gamertage to a new Live ID on Friday?

I was told the same, which is a pain in the arse since I no longer have access to the account it's associated with.

I was told at the time (about 2/3 months ago) that they were working on a solution, but obviously nothing has come of it.

If you mean the whole changing-your-email-address-from-the-one-you-signed up-to-XBL-with malarky, then yes - it would seem MS have miraculously forgotten all about it. Back when the Spring dash update was released they promised to fix it so that people could use the chat software properly.

There hasn't been a squeak since.

I was told to phone back this week as something was "down" that needed to be working. They did say it was no problem to do and would take a minute or so to complete.

Did any of you manage to get this sorted? I was told it couldn't be done when I phoned them. Saying that tho I was also told I couldn't change the FFXI acount I had linked with one gamertag over to another, I got it changed no problem when I rang the US .

I didn't. I just had to re-open the hotmail account that it's associated with.
