...what would you add? Pick any console you own, and think which aspect you like to be better: more RAM? Faster processor? Bigger HDD? Different standard controller?

Plus the bonus of having your own music banging away in the background during a tense FZero race would be very welcomed...very.

Remote control or pad button to put the console in standby mode.
Reset buttons on all controllers.
Digital front panel for all consoles that also play DVDs for track/time/name info.
HDDs on all for gamesaves music etc.
Multi region
Ability to play all types of media.
That should just about do it for me. lol

Excellent thread idea. I'll pick a few of the consoels I own:
PS 2 : A less noisy fan would be nice. That thing makes a racket.ft:
Dreamcast : Rumble facility built in to the controller and a more streamlined controller design.
As for PS2 colours, I always thought burgandy and black would be nice. That or cream and terra cotta.

I'd like a temote control with simple on, off and reset buttons for all consoles.
Or even just gamecube power on and off buttons on the wavebird.
Yes, I'm lazy
Not so much of a console change as they already have it to an extend, but a widescreen 16:9 option which actually means the console will ONLY output in 16:9, hopefully this would makewidescreen a standard feature in all games.
Every game should have 16:9 these days. It's so annoying having to play with reduced screen size or stretched out.

I would have improved the Dreamcast (and the Saturn) by adding in a marketing department that knew how to organise a piss up in a brewery.
Would have dumped the second SH-2 processer in the Saturn and just have put in a faster SH-2 to compensate.
Would have stuck a proper 16 Bit chip in the Super Famicom, rather then the laughable 65SC816 they used. 3Mhz? What are you on? Before anyone goes on about the SFC had some brilliant games, a lot of them required DSP and other hardware in the carts. The Megadrive had on game Virtua Racing that had a DSP!
Would have put in a better Yamaha sound chip in the Megadrive (YM2612), like the YM3438 and stuck in a proper DAC chip like a NEC pd7759. Just so the Z80 wouldn't have made the Speech sound like it was going through a 4 bit DAC and a high pass filter. Maybe have increased the speed of the 68000 from 8Mhz to 10Mhz.
I would have released the Super Famicom / Sony Playstation CD-ROM, that would have killed the Playstation off for a while, while Sega dominated with the Sega Saturn.
Would have made the FM Towns Marty floppy diskless and used AMD chips to bring the cost down.

Q mark 2, 240 GB HD for PVR and a separate 40 GB HD for games/music. Add in progressive DVD, built in broadband adapter and gb player. Oh, and an optical audio output and input. What about a DVD burner built in as well?

I'd like to see the DC with more power. Oh and DVD playback as well.
<segafanboy>If I could actually go back in time and change history then I'd probably rip out the 3D capabilities of the Playstation. Install a crappy sound chip. Give it only one joystick port and make it cart based.
That should make things just peachy in 2003.</segafanboy>
