May as well have a thread for people to post their own or favourite Miis in so we can all download them!

Judging is open for the first "Mario without his hat" contest. The quality is poor. You get shown ten random Miis (with no indication as to who created them so judging is fair and can't be easily influenced) and you have to select three that you feel are best. If you don't like any, you can "swap them out" and it replaces the bunch you've got with another bunch, excluding any you've selected. I must have gone through over 500 easily to find three that weren't crap. And even then the three I selected weren't as good as mine!

So many basic mistakes. Black hair or brown eyebrows/moustache are common, *hilarious* entries showing him as being bald apart from the hair that pokes out under the hat, despite Mario 64 clearly showing he has a full head of hair. There's also an amazing number of entries that aren't even Mario. And most Maios are lazy too, just using basic shapes with no creativity. I'm probably just hard to please though!

Yeah, I thought the quality wasn't great. If they want to do this properly, hopefully they'll have rounds in which the crappier entries are knocked out. We could vote on the top ten.

There were loads that were not even meant to be Mario.

In defence of the channel, though, there are some truly awe-inspiring Mii's in the posting plaza. People can be so imaginative - using sunglasses for the upper lip of a cat is a stroke of genius.

I was one of the people who put Mario as bald, because they simply didn't have the right hair for him - his is too puffy/bouffant for those available. Plus, Mario must age at some point, and my guess is that he'd prefer a comb-over. A man after my own heart.

Yeah I struggled with this one. What on earth does a tooth fairy look like! I feel that the lack of white hair really hurts this, the tooth fairy in my mind has white hair. Judging this is going to be entirely random.

Mario contest results are go!

I got "level 9," I've no idea what that means though. My Mario ran almost to the top of the mountain though so I guess it's good. Unless everyone's does that. The three I voted for all came in at level 9 too it looks like and my eye for Miis was only "average" so, who knows. I was hoping more for "you came 2987th!"

I got a souvenir photo that I can email to my PC though, it's utterly ridiculous/hilarious in equal measure. You get given a background and you can put your entry and your artisan on the picture. The D-Pad changes the Miis pose, some of them are quite quite camp

EDIT: Apparently you can't send photos to an email address, only other Wiis. Well that's dumb.

I got to level six, presuming that it was good to attain level 1. Actually, the higher the level 1-(10?) the more votes you got, so level 9 sounds pretty good. The crap thing about the results was that the top fifty Mario's were all identical.

Mario was quite a fun task, I hope they can come up with some more imaginative ones than 'tooth fairy' and 'Cleopatra', but something tells me we're not going to be getting 'best' Chewbacca or Michael Jackson.

That's good, surely? I mean, Mario only looks like one thing and it shows that the judging is good. Saying that, mine was easily as good as theirs, so I think it's down to luck as much as anything else whether you break into the top 50, there must be hundreds of very similar ones.

It's probably worth stocking up on Nintendo themed Miis for future contests! I thought the Cleopatra contest was OK, at least she has an (almost) specific look. The thanksgiving pilgrim one was ridiculous, what does a pilgrim look like? Anything at all, surely?

What I suppose I was getting at is the fact that people blatantly entered the exact same Mii from different Wii's. I suspect that people had either imported them from the mii plaza/been sent them by friends or had copied other people's they had seen elsewhere. Obviously, if it's not possible to submit a Mii made by someone else, then I must be wrong(?)

Also, Mario doesn't necessarily look like one thing. The Mario from Paper Mario looks quite different from the one in SM64. I found a really nice one in the entries that was very cartoony, like paper Mario.

Your last point is very true - I think there ought to be rounds of voting so that it's less random.

That's a fair point, I thought you just meant "similar" which obviously you'd expect them to be to a degree! I'm not uploading any of my contest entries to the Mii Plaza for people to see until the contest enters the judging stage, because they'll be copied if they're any good. I'm quite pleased with my Cleopatra.

The tooth fairy results are in, and mine made it to... LEVEL ONE. It's officially one of the worst tooth fairies in the entire world. I didn't think it was that bad

Awe... Don't feel too bad, toythatkills - it was probably just that it didn't come up in the first few pages of the randomly selected Miis.

I only got level 3. Mind you, I did give it a beard and moustache.

What I'm annoyed about is the fact there are no momento photos after Mario...

Also - another sign that the top fifty artisans are in cahoots: why do nearly all of them have antennae? Tooth fairies are not insects!

I was under the impression that everyone judged the Miis in a different order so that it wouldn't just be the first pagers that won. I think the Mario photo was a special case, usually the top 50 (or winner) is entitled to them. Not much of an incentive really, but it's still fun enough. I hope my Cleopatra does better.

Yes - presumably it's sort of ordered in some way. But I'd guess that it can't be entirely fair because not everyone would vote...?

I suppose we have to have some form of incentive, but I really enjoyed the photo part...
